There is a pretty little KD pin with the letters AN (chapter?) and number on ebay, emeralds and pearls, 19 days left on it:

Did anyone else see this pin just sold on eBay?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350548901268...84.m1438.l2649

It's obviously not the original pin. I wondered if it was one designed before the current style was finalized, but the 28 on the back gives me pause. According to Ordinary Miracles, Julia Tyler worked on a redesign and settled on the familiar badge in 1898, but I doubt that there were 28 initiates by then. Also, it looks like there might be an apostrophe before that 28; if so, the Alpha chapter was dormant by then so that KD could enter the NPC.

Still, it would be interesting to own it, what with the right letters and the important diamond shape. I just wouldn't treat it as an official badge (not that I won the auction).

I'm just waiting for the pin I'm in love with (emerald with diamond points) to show up on eBay. I'd rather have a pin with history than a new one.

That may be a pin from a now defunct national that used the name Kappa Delta until HQ advised them that the name was copyrighted. Can't remember which school had the chapter.

Kappa Delta Locals.

According the old Baird's Manuals of American College Fraternities, there were several local groups who use the name Kappa Delta:

The first was at the University of Alabama 1847 died out in the 1850s.
Other schools were, University of West Virginia, Ohio State University, New York State Teachers Colllege, Pacific University, And the Georgia Institute of Technology.

I think that e-yearbooks.com has copies of the yearbooks which shows these groups.

Hope this helps.

That's definitely Alpha (Wittenberg, Springfield, OH) At one point our chapter (Alpha Nu) was trying to buy it for the chapter, and I'm not sure whether our chapter ended up buying it or it got into someone else's hands (I'm taking a semester off). Hope it didn't go to the wrong people!

I don't usually point out items currently at auction on ebay but I'd really like someone to enjoy these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330712677155...84.m1423.l2649

It's the two volume History of Kappa Delta by Genevieve Forbes Morse published in 1973. These don't come along very often. They were never sold to individual members. A copy of the history was sent to each KD chapter.

These are great for the budding Kappa Delta info nerd. Packed with facts not included in Ordinary Miracles. And you can't beat an opening bid of 99 cents!

P.S. I'm not the one selling them!

This is my dream badge. I'm literally in pain right now. I know it's going to go up higher than I can afford.

Ugh this is like 20 minutes from my house. Can't I just go and pick it up?

The policy is really confusing, but I think if you win and want to pick it up, they will not charge shipping but will charge $2.0 for handling.

If anyone is looking on that one specific site, I'm currently watching an auction and will hopefully get it. If you want to know which one, please PM me. I'm trying to be vague so that collectors aren't given much notice about it.

Item #221161676898 on "that site" is a KD bookend. I know the dealers, and they're good people. It's worth the look!
