Yes and no. There's a whole lot of grade inflation today.

And I'm blown away by the chapter sizes. As y'all know, I went to school in the Northeast, at a time when total was 80 and being cut across the board after open houses was unheard of unless you were a complete b*tch (or had a really low GPA, but women with low GPAs tended to self-select out and pledge the library instead of rushing). The SEC is a whole different ball game, recruitment-wise.

The lowest of the chapter GPAs is still higher than that of all unaffiliated students. That's awesome.
And my alma mater has seen some definite increases in total since I graduated - from the largest chapter being about 80ish in 2006 to the largest in 2019 being around 180. That is still not half as big as some of these Bama chapters.
I wonder if they have had to do massive renovations yet like Arkansas chapters had to? (They were running out of room in common areas like dining/chapter room.)

All the houses at Alabama have been built in the last 8 years. It does get crowded but they are adequate.

I think that maybe PNMs etc have been told to keep silent on social media. The GR Alabama discussion website has been locked down for a day or so, requires a password to post. Probably to stop the ranking/badmouthing hysteria that influences PNMs. Wonder if someone had to pay GR to halt posts?

I think all of GR has been down across the board for several days. You can read, but no new posts. It has been very refreshing!

No, dangit, nor does it involve her 2 legacy groups. I guessed early on what her last 2 would be and I was right.

You’ve been at this a LONG TIME, Carnation. It’s not surprising that you could predict her final two this accurately. (If you ever want a fellow Greek to accompany you to the Las Vegas casinos....)

One downside of all this construction is that the dues are extremely expensive (~$3,500-$4,500 a semester for girls who don'tlive in the house). Granted, some of that covers a partial meal plan for the members, but still, that's a $7,000-$9,000 premium per year when you still have to pay for board.

you do know that apartments generally cost more than living in? And the meal plans are the same cost as the required campus one? Yes, Greek Life is always more than non participation...but you get a lot for that -formals, mixers, date nights, retreats, etc...
