Getting paid is the part that you might be disappointed in. Most higher education professionals, such as Greek Advisors, make very little. A friend of mine is the Greek Advisor at Lehigh, and she doesn't make a lot. But if it's your dream, go get it!

As everyone else has said, AZD can refuse to take members of NBO. We did three colonizations this year. One was a local, which had already existed on their campus, and we took that group in its entirety, and they helped with recruitment and all that jazz. Another group was like 5 women, but not necessarily a local, and they had to interview with HQs, just like all of the other women we took. I think it would really depend upon the situation.

That being said, who AZD would take will ultimately depend upon the interested number of women who come out for their recruitment. They could take everyone if only 30 women come, and that is average chapter size. If you want everyone guaranteed membership in your new chapter, I would discuss that with AZD first, and if they're not willing to offer you that, you may want to reconsider.

Just a thought...

Wow...I think for once everyone here is freaking out more than I am about something! Our basic plan is to just meet with AZD and see what they have to say about everything. If push comes to shove, and they don't want to take all of our sisters, then we'll discuss the options of looking at other groups, staying local, etc. But I honestly don't see much point in worrying about this now. As I said before, I have confidence in the criteria that we used to select sisters, and I know this will be apparent to whomever comes to look at us. We're a good group, and if AZD doesn't understand that, then they aren't the right group for us to affiliate with in the first place. That being said, AZD has been nothing but helpful and supportive through this whole thing, and I think that it's worth mentioning that they aren't exactly out for evil here- they're trying to do what's best for their organization, and I'm doing what's best for mine. I have a feeling those goals will coincide nicely, but if not, oh well. We've discussed some plans to look into other NPC's and multicultural orgs if this doesn't pan out- we've just worked so hard to get to this point that I don't see why we would want to give up based on what I think was essentially a disclaimor from them more than anything else. We'll see how things go. Thank you all for your concern and advice, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on how things go.
love, Corina

I think that the reason that we are "freaking out" as you say, more than you are, is that a lot of us have been around the block a few times. It might be a good idea to keep people's posts in mind as you go through this process.

Good luck!

It has taken me a few days but I have finally read this thread from start to finish! As many have stated through the year, Corina you are truly amazing! You are any sorority's ideal member! Your dedication to this project and your loyalty are beyond the average college student. What you will have gained by the time you graduate will be more precious to you than a woman who just 'coasted' through her sorority experience.
I am also touched by the outpouring of advice, encouragement, and friendship expressed by the members of GC! I only wish every PNM and journalist could read this thread and see what it means to be part of a GLO family, no matter what your letters are.
Best wishes to you during the upcoming year. I look forward to hearing more updates when school resumes. Take the summer to relax and pat yourself on the back for all you have accomplished! If you need any advice on creating a new member program or any other questions, feel free to PM or e-mail me. I sincerely hope you reach your dream of being a part of an NPC sorority!

I just moved into my new house and so I've been somewhat unattached from the world recently. But, I have my phone and internet connections functioning again, so I can get back to knowing what's going on in greekchat. John Holloway's office sent me a list of dates that I think will work well for my girls, and I'm going to get in touch with them ASAP and figure this out. We're still making progress! More info later, I'm soooo tired.
love, Corina

It's going great! And if you still need any recommendations for dry skin, Clinique has a great product called Moisture Surge...it's sortof a gel and I keep mine in the fridge and it's oh so soothing! Thanks for asking!

This is the thread that officially got me hooked on GreekChat Corina, if you're out there, let us know what's going on even if nothing is really going on now!

We're all pulling for you and let us know if we can help with anything.
