Southern Polytechnic State University and Kennesaw State University in Georgia are to merge and become one school in 2015. Kennesaw State is set to expand with Zeta Tau Alpha. No word yet if that colonization may be moved back in order to accommodate the merging of of Southern Poly's and Kennesaw's panhellenic. Gamma Phi Beta is present at both schools and Alpha Xi Delta is present at Southern Poly.

Do you think this merger will have any effect on NPC orgs at all? Both campuses are going to remain open, so won't SPSU become Kennesaw State - Marietta and KSU remain KSU in Kennesaw? Won't this be like having a chapter at Alabama and UAB?

Well, there is talk of possibly moving all the greek life to Kennesaw, in which case, Gamma Phi would merge, but Alpha Xi Delta would have to basically "transfer" (for lack of a better word) their chapter to Kennesaw and get up to total, because total is obviously vastly different at both schools. If Alpha Xi did transfer to Kennesaw, it would probably impact the timeline for Zeta's expansion.

ETA: It's still up in the air, from what I hear, but yes, I suppose they could just remain separate panhellenics, but I believe the thinking is that it would be more beneficial for the Southern Poly chapters to merge.
