It still just doesn’t make any sense, to me. It should just be whichever candidate has the most votes, wins. We’d have never had this Trump problem if there wasn't an unnecessary, Electoral College.

Yes, I saw where he’s already lying about there being fraud. I mean, are you surprised though?
I was able to sleep a little better. But it’s not just this election that’s bothering me. That’s actually a small part of it. My father-in-law (his health) isn’t doing well either. So that’s also making it difficult for me to sleep.

I love women so I couldn’t help it Lol. I’m damn near 40 now and I don’t think I’d cheat. I’m not saying I’d put it past myself, but I doubt it. Maybe it does depend on age.

I’ve never cheated, but when I was in college (undergrad), I was cheated on.
So, not only do I respect my husband, but I respect myself, so I’d never cheat. When people cheat, they’re not only disrespecting their partner, they’re also disrespecting themselves. I’m also thankful and blessed that I’m not married to a cheater. Honestly, I believe the words a couple utters at the altar are spiritual. So, to me, those words have life. Just as the price of a wedding does not equal the cost of a marriage, the price of the ring does not equal the true cost of the covenant it represents.
Speaking of wedding rings, now that we’re on the subject, in the Greek Orthodox tradition, the bride and groom wear their rings on the right hand to signify blessings on their union. So, Psalm 16:11 speaks of eternal pleasures being found at the right hand of God. That’s why us Greeks wear our wedding rings on the right hand. My dad is Italian, and in his culture he wore his wedding ring on the left. My mom who’s Greek, unified with him and also wore hers on the left, instead of her culture’s traditional right. I wear mine on my left to unify with my hubby, too. It’s a bond. Cheating tears bonds apart.

I know, right? I totally agree with you, winter. It just doesn’t make any sense. It just seems to cause too many problems. And now because of it, we have a really big, dangerous problem.

WIFLSRN: So, I took the day off work so I can take my kids out for Halloween after dinner tonight. One Halloween, I didn’t get to see them go out in their costumes because I worked so late. I was so hurt and disappointed. I vowed that would never happen again. This year, I’m wearing a costume with them. I’m wearing my Vikings dress I wore to the game. I’m a Viking this Halloween. I know they’re going to be embarrassed (lol), but I’m still going to wear it. Hey, it’s Halloween!

CG, prayers going up for your father in law. I mean that, too. I really will pray for you and your family. Telling you and not doing it, I’d feel like I’d be making a mockery of prayer. Keep me posted. You can PM, too.
Interesting about the rings in the Greek culture. I learned something new. But who in the hell could cheat on you, CG? For real? Serious question.

What would make me exempt? I was in undergrad, so looking back on it, it wasn’t a big deal. I mean, it happens. I was very young and very naive then. I learned from it.

Let’s say it was most votes only (and I’m not defending it because the electoral college should go), which issues would get the most attention? It would be the issues the big cities care about most and less about what smaller states need. For example, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota have 20% of the world’s fresh water supply. But California hardly has no fresh water, but if they were the focus, there would be resources focused on how to get them water and none on what it takes to maintain the world’s Great Lakes. That’s one main reason we have the electoral college.

Where’d you get your information from? When I lived in Jackson, it was all over the news that Flint’s water wasn’t even safe to drink. So how did Michigan make the freshwater list? Everything is effed up there Lol.

It was the pipes that caused the lead poisoning, not really the water source itself. And there were other contaminants. And some really scummy people knew about it and did nothing/covered it up, supposedly including former Republican Governor Rick Snyder.

It’s kind of a long story and right now I am exhausted. So, I’m going to bed. I’ll tell you how I found out tomorrow. Just remind me, lol.

Well, that’s a bit more clear. But I’d rather deal with that problem than the problem it gave us now.

I don’t think Flint was getting their water from the clean glacial water of Lake Michigan. The Republican governor at the time decided it would be cheaper for Flint to get their water from a polluted river? I think? I mean, that’s what I remember. Lead was discovered in the river water. I could be wrong, but that’s how I remember it from people talking about it.

Yep. That was his name. I couldn’t remember his name. He was such a jerk.

They stopped using the corrosion control chemical due to budget cuts. The corrosion inhibitor stops the lead in the pipes from leaching into the water. The decision was made by a financial oversight person sent by the state; not an engineer or scientist. And they did not have the state regulatory agency’s permission to stop using the chemical.
I think they also changed water sources too (again- without a permit or permission) but it’s been years since I read about this case. The change in source can cause additional water quality issues that might cause the lead to be more likely to leach out of the pipes.
So, basically to save $100/day, they poisoned people.
What do I feel like saying right now? I better not have COVID. if I didn’t have a massive headache and have to inquire about getting a test done today…I’d find some Flint articles to link. I think Frontline may have done an episode on it?

Perhaps that news is what caused 75 people to be lined up to early vote, when I went to vote, at 445pm today in my county.
Seventy-five!
And, more people wanting to vote were coming in thru the doors!
The Best News is: the women at the business where early voting occurs said many long voting lines have happened during these past few voting weeks
I had to get home by 530pm, so will return to vote tomorrow.
