Not sure yet if I'll join again as I'm feeling better, but I really wish they'd stop sending me fan mail asking me to come back!
The Points Plus 2012 is only slightly different from Points Plus:

1. The new lowest point count you can have is 26 - but if you were losing with 29, you can stay there Or, you can change it up within that range from day to day. This is probably to compensate for the free fruit.

2. The Simply Filling can be used for a day at a time - you don't have to commit to it for a whole week - but that means you have to be careful when calculating that extra 49 weekly points.

3. You can use all activity points you accrue, rather than stopping at 4 a day. Now, I don't know a lot of people this applies to, but it's worth mentioning.

Other than that, it's the same program. They put out new literature, and it's nice and shiny and has recipes and whatnot.

As I've said before, I love the program, I lost 45 last year. . Due to some health issues both of my own and within my family I basically stalled out from August - December. But I didn't gain any of it back - and that's perfectly OK with me. I'm rededicated this year, and I have to say - it is SO LIVEABLE.

Ok, just started this on Monday (I'm actually only doing WW Online), making this day 3. Day 1 & 2 went fine, but I don't feel so great today. Every once in a while I can feel it when my blood sugar dips (I'm not diabetic) and I get all shakey and a little dizzy. I just got that again and had my Smart Ones (weight watchers brand) for lunch. Still felt like crap and ate some grapes. Still didn't feel well, so I had some Cheez Its (an individual bag) and finally started feeling better. 13 points later I'm done with lunch

I guess my question is did anyone have any issues adjusting to the plan? Is this normal and just my body adjusting? Should I be easing into it?

I'm worried that I'm not eating enough. I mean, I know it's a diet, lol, but I'm thinking that I may not be eating the right foods. I feel like I'm getting to my point totals really quickly. Thank God for flex points or I'd starve!

I'm starting with you! I have been a subscriber to WW online for 6 years...never stopped paying after losing 75 pounds six years ago. Need to do it again. Oh well. When you first start, you have to figure out how YOU eat. Find foods that will make you feel full without blowing your points. You may need more protein to fill you up and keep you full. Carbs run out quickly. Flex points are there to be used, but in my experience they slow down your weight loss. Something that really helped me in the past were Atkins weight loss shakes. They come prepared in cans. Get the plain chocolate ones and drink them cold. They are pretty tasty (I hate any other kind...to sweet!). It actually keeps you pretty full for about 4 hours. They used to count for 3 points.

Day 3 was the worst for me! I felt much like you, but AOII Angel is correct in saying that you need to figure out how YOU eat. I don't like to eat a lot in the morning, so I load up on Greek yogurt for the protein and nibble on fruit until lunchtime - take advantage of the fact that many fruits and veggies are essentially zero points. Snack-sized Ziploc bags are your friend when you're craving junk food but don't want to completely blow your points. She's also correct in saying that using a lot of your flex points slows down weight loss. Also, make sure you're drinking PLENTY of water - sometimes, what you feel as hunger may actually be your body's need for liquids.

Oh - I've been on the plan exactly one month as of today, and I'm down 7.2 pounds! I know I'll eventually hit a plateau, but only 32.8 more pounds to go until I hit what I weighed in college - my goal weight. Yeah!

Woo hoo! Nice to have someone else along for the ride

Good pointers. I am going to have to find ways to beef up the protein, I think. Just in the past 3 days I'm realizing I eat SO MANY CARBS. I think my body is freakin out a little and adjusting to less carbs.

I figure there's no harm easing in and relying (heavily lol) on those flex points. As you said, they are there for a reason. I don't mind gradual weight loss, my goal weight loss is only 15lbs. If I lose 0.7 lbs/week, that means I'll still reach my goal by the wedding! lol (Although I'm aiming for 1 lb a week so I can hit my goal around mid April and then work on maintaining).

I just signed up for WW last night! Today is going to be my first real day on it and I'm excited to see how it goes. I'm planning on making a few recipes from Skinny Taste this weekend, now that I know how many points I have for each day. I have 50 lbs (omg it scares me to even say that) to lose, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

50 pounds is a scary number-- I should know I am in the same position. Take it slowly. Cut your goals to manageable numbers. Work on losing 5 pounds. Then work on 10 pounds, then on your 10% weight loss. These are all smaller numbers so you are able to meet these goals as you work toward that huge number. Good luck!!!!

This thread is fabulous! Thanks so much for posting the new information about the new plain (Points 2012). I have all the materials I got last year and was worried a lot had changed again. About 10 years ago I lost 30 pounds on the old Points system, but unfortunately gained it all back a few years after that after returning to school and other personal stresses going on at the time. I'd love to lose 40 pounds but I keep falling off the WW wagon...

I highly recommend the beef and broccoli recipe!

Tomorrow is my first weigh in (at home, since I'm doing WW Online). I'm nervous! On Thursday I took an unofficial weigh in and I was down 3 lbs! But then I ended up having a horrible Thurs & Fri, lol I recovered nicely today though. In fact, today was my best day on the program so far. However, I'm not sure if it's because I'm figuring out what works for me/getting used to the program or if it's because I was well fed the last two days LOL

I'm also realizing that I'm definitely going to have to use my flex points everyday. My daily point goal is 26, which seems to go by crazy fast. So I'll spread out my flex evenly and use up to 7 a day, if needed. Today I'm at a total of 32, so technically I have a point left. However, I worked out and got 4 points back...so I can have 5 more points of food if I wanted...but I feel full and content! Yay! I may treat myself to a 3 point skinny cow ice cream bar later, though.

Hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow!

Week 1 weigh-in....

DOWN 4.4 LBS!

I cannot believe it.

I know a lot of that had to do with the fact that last weekend I did nothing but eat (I was out of town visiting family--and there was lots of food). And I need to remind myself that I'm likely not to see that kind of success in one week again.

But yay for a great start! I'm hoping I can lose 0.5-1.5 more before Friday--I'd love to be down 5-6 lbs after not seeing my fiance in a month!

While I'm not familiar with the new version of the program, I was basically raised on WW since my mom has been a leader for a really long time.

Your flex points and activity points are built into the program and are there for you to use. If you are hungry, use them! It makes the program more livable and makes you more likely to stick with it.

I've been hearing the "no more than 4 activity points a day" thing mentioned upthread for years, and it is a myth at least on the old Points program (like I said, I'm not familiar with Points Plus -- my mom is still a leader, but I live 500 miles away now). You can eat as many activity points as you earn.

Good luck! I think WW is a great program and it sounds like you're starting off really well.

Can't weigh in this week--I'm visiting the fiance. I'd have to imagine that I didn't lose this week though. I weighed myself on Friday before I left and I was technically up 0.4 lbs, although I'm not gonna worry about that since I know weight fluctuates all the time.

Yesterday wasn't so great--I knew I wasn't going to bother counting points cause we were going out to a nice dinner at night. I did well during the day though, so hopefully there wasn't much damage.

The program is certainly getting easier though. I decided to start counting again today even though I'm still on a mini vacation. I still have at LEAST 6 points to go (I might use a few extra flex since I'm enjoying myself with my guy) and I've already had my 3 meals...and I really didn't even feel too hungry today!
