So how is Biden who has been in the old line political scene any different than those who make a profession of politics?

Obama almost had to pick someone from the old guard, so to speak, to answer any of the experience questions.

Also, as to the change thing, I'm not sure that adding Biden really goes against that. One of my big issues is that he's been talking about "change" this whole time, when he's been a member of the Congressional majority. I know he's trying to feed off the anti-Bush sentiment, and it's working, but it's also not as if he's some political outsider coming in to shake things up.

No - spin by his own people. If you talked to real Republicans who understood things, they would have told you McCain's stances on things. Just because the media painted him as a "maverick" doesn't mean a whole lot.

And, obviously, the tactic worked on some people - you just stated that you thought he was a "maverick," and "liberal-minded" on some issues.

I do think that there was "spin" that he was more moderate than he is during the 2000 election, by Bush's people, to keep him from being elected by the conservative right wing. The Republican party didn't want him to be the candidate in 2000 and that seemed clear at the time.

That's a good point - I also think he embraced it, to a certain extent, to differentiate himself from Bush. Essentially, I think the whole "maverick" thing really came down to his ideas on campaign financing.

Guess it did! McCain even refers to himself as a Maverick! He voted against the Bush tax cuts TWICE and pass the McCain-Feingold reform. I don't think republicans were happy about those things!

Don't know where else to post this, but just got a text message from my 14 year old daughter, who is on vacation with her (very Republican) dad, saying "I really like Obama, can we go to the next democratic convention?"

I love that kid!

I'd probably be just as excited if she was liking McCain instead. I love that she's into the political process and can cite reasons for why she would vote the way she would vote (above and beyond "I like him") She has her own thoughts and ideas of how things should be. I did point out to her that she'll be able to vote in the next presidential election and she texted back "I know! I'm so EXCITED!"

Ok, I really don't know where you're going with all of this. You talk about him voting with the President for a certain percentage of the time, to try to make the point that he is just like Bush. Then, you say this. That, and you put everything in exclamation points, as if you've proven me incorrect on something.

If you're against McCain, and you have your reasons, that's fine. But, your statements in this thread have been a tad misleading.
