Our Headquarters has asked us to use Candidate, and all of our offical forms use that. In our chapter, we usualy use Candidate, though the old form of Pledge still slips through.

We just seem to call them the new girls, it even sticks after they are initiated till we get a newer pledge class. No one seems to mind and it sounds better than new members.

Really!?

Man, when i was in college SPE called them Magots, OX's Goats, SP Newbs.. And us, well we went with the traditional "Pledge" nothing rolls of the tongue like "Pledge, get me a beer!" or "Where the fuck's my ride, pledge?" ahhh the good days pre PC NIC BS.. Fuck, i damn near sounded like a sorority girl there with the acronyms. I digress; I know a lot of things are hazing nowadays, but come on guys, have some self respect, there's no shame in calling PNM's pledges or something stupid, to HQ they where always PNM's for us, but you bet your sweet ass we never called them that unless an HQ brother was right in front of us.. geez.. ladies, in the other hand.. i think your cute name styles like "Pearls" etc.. solid choice.. keep it up..

What's this thing where folks are reviving 10+ year old threads all of the sudden?

Especially when threads like this have an updated counterpart from this decade!

Newbies who don't understand that you look at dates before you reply to a thread?

Nothing wrong with bumping an old thread (don't we always tell folks to do a search?) as long as they're moving the conversation along.
