LOL Hootie! Glad you liked it . I actually have a large old mag collection! I used to collect them (sorta), but then it got too overwhelming (imagine how my bookcase must have looked like!! ), so I stopped. But I still have a scattering of old mags!~ I even have some from 1989 (my sister's)!!! Now, isn't that interesting?! They have photos of girls wearing poufy prom dresses/hair and Day-glo sneakers and leggings . And then there are ads for Maybelline Kissing Koolers (remember those? I had a few when I was little!!)!! LOL!
Good luck with your new belly piercing!!

Hey hey!!!
I just HAD to go looking for this topic! After talking about it all summer, I FINALLY got my belly button pierced today!! With a week and a half left before I leave for college. I was at a friend's house and we were talking about it, and it was so spontaneous and random! We just decided to jump in the car and go get ours done. The actual piercing didn't hurt, but all day long I've been sore. I read that post where it said healing takes 4 weeks to a year... I'm gonna try and take some super care of mine because I want it to be minimal. I love it though... I think it's so cute!
Oh, btw, I also have my ears pierced once each, but they've been done since I was a little baby so I've always kinda taken them for granted.

Hmm... I have had my ears peirced since I was about 7, but its always been a touchy thing because I'm allergic to the nickel in sterling silver.. So I have always had to buy special earrings.
This should have clued me in when I got my belly button periced, but I really didnt think about it. It was a on the fly choice, I was bored one day, so me and a sister went to a periciong place and I got it done. Six months later I had to get it replaced because it still had not healed up right. Fun!!
I used to want to get my eyebrow done, but I heard those leave bad scars, and who really needs a scare on their face??
take care, ya'll!!

I have 3 holes in each ear, plus I have my cartilage pierced in my left ear. People did tell me that the cartilage piercing would hurt, but it wasn't bad at all! I've never had many problems with it, except it was a little hard to change it from a stud to a hoop. I also have my belly button pierced, and just got a new one today. It's has a clear rhinestone with silver sun rays around it...a bit bigger than my last one, but very cute! And getting my belly button pierced did not hurt that much either, so anyone who is afraid to do it, don't be! Plus, the guys like it and always give me compliments!

Hey Orchid,
I'm glad you got your belly button pierced. Mine is doing better...I'm actually thinking about changing it now. Every now and then I have a few small problems where it grows shut over the ring and it hurts to move it, but otherwise I hardly remember that it is there.
It did take mine a good month to heal. At least to the point where I could touch it and sleep on it. The best advice I got was to clean it with salene solution three times a day. I tried everything but that seemed to work well.
Have fun at school and keep us posted on your ring.

I just got my cartilage pierced in my left ear a few weeks ago. It didn't hurt really, but it's SUCH a pain in the ass trying to sleep on that side I have to position my hand in just the right spot so it doesn't press against the pillow. I hope that changes for the better VERY soon!!!
Congrats on the BB piercing Orchid. It should be nice and normal quite soon

HOOTIE!!! I highly recommend exchanging your ring for a bar instead. It is much easier to slide up and down so as to not have the skin grow around it and also it is much less likely to get snagged on pantyhose or any waistband. Plus, there are some really, really cute bars out there. Mine is silver with a small ball on the top and an aquamarine on the bottom that sits right in my bellybutton. I recommend going to a piercing place to get it changed though; doing it at home is definitely not for the faint of heart (like me!)

Okay after hearing all of the cartilage horror stories, I have decided that I am the luckiest person around! I have two small silver hoops in my left ear carilage, and they were both done with a safety pin. One of my sisters did them and she dissenfected everything with alcohol. I have had absolutely no problems with either one, even sleeping on them. They have never been infected, and I have had them for about four months. I know it wasn't exactly the safest thing in the world, but it was one of those spur of the moment things with a little influence of some beverage .
The only other peircing I have besides my ears is my tongue (done professionally) it never swelled, and I had it done the day before Thanksgiving and still ate. I guess I am just really lucky!

I changed the barbell on my tongue the other day--and it's been a pain getting used to it.
I used to have a glow in the dark barbell but it kinda got a little old..so now I have sparkling light blue barbell.
This one's slightly larger than my old one, so for the first few days I felt like my tongue was being smashed in...but now I'm used to it.
I wonder when I'm going to take this thing off??
I'm also contemplating getting another tattoo...but I'll save that for the tattoo thread.

What and where is your current tattoo and what and where are you considering getting?

Hey Tracy! I already have two Japanese Kanji characters on the nape of my neck. One reads "LOVE" and the other "MOM". I got it so when my mom found out she wasn't going to get mad, because after all, it was for her. She got mad, though--but she got over it. It's usually covered by my hair, but when it's not I'll wear the appropriate clothing.
I was thinking about getting a floral band (probably a maile lei) around my ankle. At first I was hesitant because I thought it'd look unprofessional later on, but you can't really tell if I wear hose. I did a temp tattoo there and I actually tried on the hose to see how it'd look.
Now I have to work up the nerve to go back to that chair. The neck wasn't that bad, but I know the ankle's a different story.
I wanted to get something down my lower back area, but with my back problems who knows what could happen?
About the nipple ring...I think it's sexy

YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT I FOUND...
Okay, in case you all don't know, I work in a jewelry store. Well we get this professional jeweler magazine and in last month's issue is an advertisement for genuine diamond and gemstone belly rings. They are the bar type like KillarnyRose recommended, but on the end there will be a round diamond in the middle with either sapphires, emeralds or rubies surrounding it to make it look like a flower. THEY ARE PRECIOUS.
Probably rather pricey too, but I had to share. If I find the ad again I'll let ya know the company name and 1 800 number.
