UIC (4): 9
DBU (2): 5
Dallas Baptist is 2 and BBQ. I'm kinda disappointed, I thought they'd do better.
Cougar High (3): 4
Texas A&M (1): 22
These two games have me cautiously optimistic that A&M has returned to the form they were playing during their 16 game Big XII winning streak. One more win and its SR time.
From the Houston Regional...
Houston Regional
Rice 11, St Johns 2 Final
tu 13, SHSU 3 Final (SHSU Eliminated)
tu and St. Johns tomorrow to see who plays Rice. GOOOO St. Johns!

Stanford Regional - Day 2
#2 Pepperdine 7, #4 UC Davis 4
#1 Stanford 5, #3 Arkansas 1 - Arkansas eliminated
Pepperdine will next play the winner of tomorrow's Stanford-UC Davis game. That team will have to beat Pepperdine twice in order to advance to the super regional.

It was a really gutsy performance by the coogs, I was hoping that A&M could put them away tonight, but they battled. I had this one and the A&M WCWS game on PIP all afternoon. Glad one of our teams could come through today.
Rice downs tu 7-4, so whoever wins tomorrow night will be going to Reckling next weekend.

Unlike last year, the top 8 seeds are faring quite well this go-round.
Five of the top 8 have already won their regionals (including Rice.. yay!) and the other 3 will play tonight.

Do you think the WCWS is hurting attendance or is it something else?

Seriously man, that kid has got a big brass set. I watched most of the UIC-Coogs game earlier and he pitched well in that one too.
And I'd like to say that the WCWS is hurting attendence. I know there was a contingent of Ags that went up there and I have a feeling more stayed in because they wanted to watch that game and the baseball one as well. Couldn't tell ya what tonight's crowd will look like.

I know this is the college baseball thread, but I'm just wondering if anyone's been keeping track of the college softball world series? Texas A&M's win over Florida the other night was impressive. There were a bunch of guy Aggies in the stands with shirts that said "Softball Sugardaddies", it was very cute.
Finals start tonight, it's A&M vs. Arizona State, best 2 out of 3. These girls can play!

Dammit...Stanford beat Pepperdine today (with the help of a grand slam) 9-7 to move on to the Super Regional.

Hmm. This season wasn't near as disappointing as in 2006 when we tanked at the end, but considering the high from the series win over A&M a couple weeks ago, this sucks. Mike Anderson deserves some credit for the make over from last year, but he needs to figure out how to get his teams peaking at the end of the season. At least this late season collapse probably means we keep our pitching coach around for an extra year or two. Still, from being picked not to make the Big XII conference tournament to nearly being a top 8 national seed, I'm pleased.
Looking forward to seeing who makes it to Omaha. Kind of hoping for Irvine, but not sure that they'll be the darlings of Omaha that they were last year. Hopefully I'll get to see at least one game at the 'Blatt this year, even though I'll be taking a ridiculous call schedule during the Series...I didn't get to any games last year due to studying for boards

Just made it home.
University of Houston: 5
Texas A&M: 13
I thought we were way to quick on the draw to go to the pen but that's the nature of the game. It was nice to force a game 7 against the Big 12 champs but it just wasn't our night.
/edit: oh yeah came home with a souvenir which was nice

Have to like LSU's chances of reaching the World Series, they've been pretty hot lately, and will definitely not want to lose the final super regional in the Box.

LOL, aw, SEC, I wasn't even thinking in those terms, but now that you bring it up, I guess it is pretty funny...

What a comeback for LSU! Definitely one of the most exciting 9th innings in CWS history. Great game!
Kinda looking forward to going to work tomorrow; my boss is a Fullerton grad, and I bet him 1/2 day with pay that that Stanford would win! Had I lost, I would have had to spend an entire day referring to him as "The Bankruptcy Genius", which I didn't think I could pull off with a straight face.

UCI had some really good hits in key spots, but LSU was just clutch tonight. But I think it's good that had to persevere through some rough spots, I think it'll let them be a little more relaxed if they happen to get in a similar situation again.
