I recall being "verified" at a function by a Soror in Baltimore a few years ago. Now as I think about it I am very glad she did.

Yeah I remember hearing that my mom's sorority (DST) verifies using membership ID's (or something like that) and driver's licences. Not a bad idea if you ask me.
