B/c of Wilma, my power was out for a few days so I just found out yesterday that Soror Rosa passed away. I too was saddened to read that. As long as we continue to tell the story Soror Parks' memory will NEVER die. Her family & friends are in my prayers.

Rest in Peace Soror Parks may we strive to follow your example-humbly and courageously making lives better for others. She will also lie in state at our Nation's capital beginning Sunday evening through Monday Morning, may her spirit live on!

FYI on Ms. Rosa Parks
I just wanted to put a little info out there on the late Rosa Parks. And to say, brothers and sisters, please dig deeper into your history than your television screen.
First, Rosa Parks was NOT SITTING IN THE WHITE SECTION of the bus. She emphasized this point over and over to news crews in 1955-56 and still we go on repeating the lie. Even when black passengers were sitting in "their own" section, they were illegally made to get up first so that white passengers would not have to stand.
But most importantly, it upsets me so much that this country has purposefully portrayed her as a meek little woman who just happened to be tired one day and what-do-you-know, a resistance movement erupted...please. Rosa Parks was FIERCE! She was not some apolitical entity. She was a fighter and an activist dedicated to civil rights HER ENTIRE LIFE. She accepted the role of point-person for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, an event that was very much planned, in culmination of her efforts. Her righteous reputation and the respect she had attained in her community beforehand made this possible.
Why do we keep acting as if resistance is some kind of spontaneous force, and "too bad it hasn't happened in our time like it did back then"? Resistance is nothing more than people unafraid to make sacrifices instead of just sitting around complaining. If we choose comfort over courage, we will continue in the direction we are going.
And knowledge really *is* power.
Thank you.

Also, here are some cartoons paying homage to Soror Parks. I didn't look at all of them, but here's the link.

Watching the funeral is so amazing. To see all of the people there to honor her is beautiful. She touched so many lives.

The service itself (I saw the last part) was very uplifing.
BET, could you have not broken format, for a few hours, to cover Rosa Parks' funeral service?

I was shocked, but pleased that my local news station broke normal programing to show the first 2 hours of the funeral. BET thought it was more important to show music videos. I mean, those contribute greatly to our history, wouldn't you agree?
