bus. cas. typically. if we're having a lax type of meeting, just dress neatly and wear letters, usually a pin.

I like both of these above posts.

We always wore shirts or Coats and ties, but that was a long time ago.

But the thing is to run a meeting in a GLO, it should be run as a business as that is what it really is.

Dress like slobs, I am sure the meeting will be run the same way.

We have 1 Formal Meeting a month this is the only meeting where we can vote on things like changes to the bylaws, staff member of the month, faculty member of the month, intra-sorority awards, etc. To this meeting we wear badge attire (no denim, skirts, slacks, dressy pants, dresses, etc, and a nice shirt). The other meetings are informal. We do different things like have speakers, play games, basically our educational programming. We are required by nationals to have three Chapter Development meetings/activities per month, and that is usually what we do on those Mondays. For that meeting, we can wear whatever, but most people wear at least jeans and a t-shirt as opposed to PJs, sweats, etc. (but PJs, sweats, etc are allowed).

I was amazed how much the dress code is different by just chapter.

Informal Chapter Meeting- In my Sigma chapter we had meetings on Sunday nights so it was typical to see sisters in a Sigma shirt and jeans or even pj pants if they lived in the hall our suite was in. As long as you had a Sigma top of some kind and everything approiate was covered all was good.

Formal meetings- Badge attire, no flip flops, denim of any kind, short skirts/ dresses, nothing too "revealing", always wear lavilear and badge

We don't have a dress code for chapter meetings. Everyone knows that chapter is a serious environment and they are expected to respect that. One thing that helps keep chapter business-like is that we end each meeting with "Good & Welfare." This is when we tell everyone about our past week or any funny stories that have happened recently. You can talk about anything you want during YOUR G&W, but you are expected to be quiet during everyone else's.

We may dress like slobs but even Fun has it's proper place at our chapter meetings.

We always wear "what you would wear to an interview," which is actually a pretty good excuse when shopping as the outfit you want to buy works for chapter every week AND job interviews (and therefore you just HAVE to buy it).

We didn't have an official dress code for chapter meetings when I was an undergraduate, but we usually wore our letters. Generally speaking, we wore our letters to campus at least 3+ days a week back then, or at least the colors!

Formal chapters are badge dress for us...and our bylaws are ridiculous about badge dressing. To the knee, nothing low cut in the front or back, inch and a half straps, no flip flops, no distracting patterns...but honestly I think dressing conservatively and respectfully sounds like enough. Informal can be anything...again, as long as it's appropriate. Switching it out is good...keeps members from being burned out on dressing up.

We have certain dress requirements for formal meetings, because the idea is that you "dress up to your badge." The most casual outfit you can wear our badge with is a sweater/dress shirt with nice slacks (not just khakis) or a skirt.

For any other meetings: most anything of normal wardrobe is okay, including jeans. Sometimes we ask members to dress "snappy casual" if there is an important visitor (like a traveling consultant).

We also have special PJ meetings sometimes for fun.

Business dress every week.

This includes:

Skirts [knee length or longer]
Non-lycra tops
Dress pants
Heels
Dress flats

Not allowed:
Gauchos
Jeans
Corderoys
Lycra shirts
Underwear showing [obviously]
Flip flops
Tennis shoes
Not having your pin
Short skirts without a slip

AST is quite conservative in business clothes.
