Cool Alpha Tau!

The Alpha chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau was founded (and is active!) at Eastern Michigan University (then Michigan State Normal College) in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on November 4, 1899.

In 1899, in Ypsilanti, Mich.,
Eight great girls sat right down
and made themselves a wish!

They made the best sorority,
The best you'll ever see!
Our colors are now green and gold
We call it AST!

When I was at DePauw a few months ago, our lovely AXO guides pointed out a lot of places on campus that were important to Theta. I loved the Theta house, too

Speaking of which, DAMN, neither of my Alpha chapters are active!

You're an Alpha, right? I thought the Cornell chapter reactivated. Their home page looks current:

Oh! In that case, I was initiated into Delta Zeta's Omicron chapter, which is one of only 5 single letter chapters still active.

I know that my brother and grandfather are both alums of the Phi chapter (Bethany College, WV) of Phi Kappa Tau, whose house was next to the Delta Tau Delta, which was founded at Bethany and still exists there today.

Indiana University has several single letter chapters. Besides the Alpha chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi and Gamma Phi Omega, other single letter chapters include:

Alpha Phi Omega (Mu)
Delta Gamma (Theta)
Delta Zeta (Epsilon)
Kappa Alpha Theta (Beta)
Kappa Delta Rho (Nu)
Kappa Kappa Gamma (Delta)
Phi Gamma Delta (Zeta)
Sigma Chi (Lambda)
Sigma Delta Tau (Upsilon)
Sigma Pi (Beta)

Quite a few!
