I've found in the NPHC women I know, and African American women I know, that religion plays a greater role culturally. Do you think that's true?

Good question.

I will say that religion plays a different role in the black community. But, I will not say (and there is no empirical evidence...this is one of my research fields) that it plays a GREATER role culturally.

The different role is directly related to the unique experiences of the Black community, as a whole, in this country. Faith is what kept us sane and grounded as a community. "Black Church" networks were the center means of socialization since we were not allowed to participate in other organizations and churches. Everyone who was anyone had ties to the Black Church and organizations held their meetings in, or were closely associated with, the Black Church.

This role has transformed but religion remains salient. This is a big reason why you observe what you observe.

Angry

And Hell, Kansas is still debating which came first, The Chicken or The Egg. How are We to teach our students, where MAN came from, GOD or The Sea.

Creativism, or Evolution? Who Told God how long a day or week was?

God Rested on the Seventh Day, OOPs, Sat. Christians celebrate on Sundays, Jews Celebrate on Sat.

So, from the above statements who is right and who is wrong?

Realigious Zealots have a lot to learn along with many other People about a lot of things.

I really don't mean to go off on a tangent here, but Sheila, I had an absolutely TERRIBLE experience with one of the partners from Edgar Snyder this evening at a dinner at school... I have SUCH a terrible opinion of that firm right now, for much more reasons than their sucky ads

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - A federal judge on Thursday threw out a lawsuit filed
by a Christian fraternity that challenged the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill's nondiscrimination policy.

Judge Frank Bullock Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District
of North Carolina ruled that the 2004 lawsuit was irrelevant because the
university revised its policy in May 2005.
