not really a "rule"
Randy - it's not a "rule" per se, just generally acknowledged as a bad idea. I never enforced such a rule, nor did my predecessor. You'd have to ask the current RD on his interpretation/enforcement ideas on this "rule."
I will say that when I was an undergrad, my Big Bro was dating one of my pledge brothers - and other than the two of them, I was the only person who knew of their relationship until he became initated. They stayed together throughout college, but broke up soon after they both graduated. It was frowned upon for a Brother to be dating a pledge. Altho not written into the chapter bylaws, it was a general assumption that it was "bad news."

I'm currently dating a member of a different chapter of APO, but I can tell you that our chapter almost fell apart because of some issues surrounding a brother and a pledge dating. It's a complicated situation, so I can't really get into it. We've also had problems with 2 brothers dating and then breaking up. I think the big problem is that, no, there is no hazing, but certain brothers tend to view the incoming pledge class as a "meat market." It can definitely make pledges uncomfortable.

SDTSarah, when Has this become such a big thing with APO?
As a Member of BU Chapter, no longer at The School.
Has this happened since Bob L. became a Head of APO?
What you are describing is totally uncalled for by anyone From APO HQ!
PM me if you would like to discuss this!!!!!!!!
Remember, APO is a different type of Greek Organization as The Social Greeks beleive it or not.

These issues have nothing to do with Bob London or APO at the national level. They are issues that are normally dealt with at the chapter level. Some chapters allow it, others don't, it just depends on what the chapter feels is best.
APO was brought up to COMPARE the dynamic of relationships within a chapter, since most people in social GLOs wouldn't have to deal with a pledge dating a pledge, or a pledge dating an initiated member.
APO being brought up in this case is totally reasonable as a basis for comparison. Since you became a member when the organization was still all male, and you bring up your membership when it's convenient to you, I wouldn't expect you to understand.

I think our Chapter was a lot more open than that Back when You may Think it was!
Granted, in My Dotoring Age this was not a thing that even had a glimmer of the particular discussion, it is pertinent in all GLOs.
While this may not invove B L. It still Involves the Members at Large.
I have while not personal dealings with this individual, there is no respect on ,my part.
I have always Respected My Membership in APO and dont YOU EVER FORGET IT!
Alpha Phi Omega is and should be a well Respected Organization!
So. My Question would be, Who Set This Regulation and just How Did They (Who Ever They Would Be) do it?
Is it done by Vote of The Active Members?

I just hope he doesn't have to think about it.
