The funny thing is that I have had that one since High School! My friends used to be like..."what the hell is he gonna come up with next?!" Thanks though!

That is SO WEIRD, I stopped wearing anklets around age 12. They were really trendy when I was that age, but the trend died out and I haven't really seen them since high school (and even that was once in a blue moon).

You can't always judge a book by it's cover, but sometimes outer appearance has a reflection on the inner beauty too.

OK...I see.
I agree w/ you aboyt the judging a book by the cover.

I'm not saying women who wear them are trashy and ghetto, it just looks that way to me and women who wear them are put into the friend category.

Then what purpose does a wrist bracelet serve?

I'm not sure. I guess so people can see how nice it looks on someone's wrist. Those don't bother me. I just don't like the ankle bracelets. To me, it looks fast.

Just had to ask you, is it possible that your negative view of ankle bracelets was influenced by a church? I'm asking because when I was growing up I used to attend this "holiness" church and the old school religified folk used to say that anklets are for prostitutes. I used to believe that until I got out into the real world and found that to be very far from reality. It's funny but one time(after I left that church and joined the church where I attend now) I actually wore an anklet when I went to their church picnic and the older folk was like ( I had the anklet on with my long skirt) The next thing I know my cuz told me they started telling the youth of the church to stay away from me because I had let the world corrupt me, and they got all of that from me wearing an ankle bracelet. I guess seeing a girl with a long skirt or capri pants on with an anklet would send a signal that she is fass but in my case that judgment would be 100% FALSE.

^^^^Used to wear a dainty DST 14K gold anklet until the clasp broke. Will be getting it fixed for the summer. Has always loved pretty anklets.

Hmmmm.... this is the first that I've heard of the anklet stereotype. I've been wearing anklets for years and I have never had anyone look down upon me because of it. I've worn them to various churches, on dates, etc... and it's never been a problem. I simply view anklets as accessories. But this is very interesting to know that people have this belief about anklets.

Yeah, I know people who wear ankle bracelets too and they look tasteful to me.
My question is: what kind of stilettos are you referring to because I always wear stilettos as I'm sure most of the women on GC are as well.

So what does all of this mean . . .that I need to take off my ancle bracelet??? Like I've probably said on another board, my family is from the U.S Virgin Islands, and in St. Thomas from the young infant to the old great grandmother and everyone in between, about 99.99% of people there wear jewlery and ancle bracelets are not uncommon. I mean having a lot of gold jewlery and custom pieces are just part of the style.
Since Kindergarten, I've worn a lot of gold jewelry. Not because i'm trying to be fast, extra bold, ghetto, or to be seen . .. but rather because it's part of my culture & I like the way gold looks on my nice brown skin.
I have never gotten any flack for my jewelry or my ancle bracelet (that I've been wearing for about a year now) . . . and hopefully I never will, 'cause if a dude is willing to look and me a take a pass before he even gets to know me, then he clearly doesn't want to meet a beautiful, welll educated, honest young woman, with a strong moral compass plus plethora of other skills . . . I am more than willing to let him miss out

For me, it's being able to talk about a variety of topics intelligently and without expecting everyone to have the same viewpoint as her.
Someone who can disagree constructively, without having to resort to personal attacks.
Someone who's knowledge of news and current events go beyond celebrity gossip/scandals and reality show goings-on. Those who listen to NPR and BBC is a major plus (REAL NEWS sources), along with those who keep up with economic news and/or read The Economist and Mother Jones. Again, they don't have to do all these things, but they must be aware of current news from a variety of sources, not just CNN and Fox News. But I digress....
Another major turn-on is those who have conservative family values with no feminist attitudes or traits (ex. women with hyphenated names is a red flag). Of course, those who dress conservatively is a major turn on for me; I like to be greeted at the door by a woman in a June Cleaver dress with pearls (yeah, I like AKAs ) over a woman coming to the door with Saran Wrap and stiletto heels. But that's just me, though. YMMV.
