ok, I know it's probably not my place to understand. And it's probably been asked and answered already. But since I'm still curious and haven't found the answer, please forgive me.

WHy would she have to worry about re-pledging anyway? Once you're a member, don't you stay a member even when you transfer schools? Even if their's no chapter at the school you go to.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME??? like I'm two years old

Once you are a member, you are a member for life, even if you transfer schools. In Delta Gamma (and most, if not all groups) if you transfer to a school without your group, you automatically become an alum.

Trying to get around that and pledge another group is just plain dishonest.

Just to add a little more. The key phrase is "initiated member." Once you are an initiated member, you are a member for life and all the privileges of full membership that go with it.

Witihin NPC, there is an Agreement signed by the Presidents of all the members that says, in part, an initiated member of one conference fraternity cannot pledge or become a member of another conference fraternity. The Agreement has been in place since the 1920's IIRC.

If the girl is a new member (pledge), she is not yet a full member because she has not gone through the initiation ritual. (I know that there is full a NPC PC way of saying that but you get the gist.) Should her pledgeship be broken by either the fraternity or herself, she is eligible to repledge. The question then becomes would another group want her.

I still miss the girl who wanted someone to place a call and get her into a good sorority. She was already in her grandma's sorority but she wanted to be in a good one. Remember her?

Yes. I remember her. I wonder if Secretary Rice took time out from her tour to call Alpha Chi for her. She seemed like such a worthy candidate.
