Finally got to see the movie. THere were a view thing that irked me about the movie. I didn't like the camera work. At time, it seems like Schumacher didn't know what was going on. He seems to have a far shot during key singing part and concentrated on the other character also during key singing part. For instance, during the boat ride, why isn't the camera concentrating on the two singers, instead, we see far shots of the two. Also, the sound editing. At time, when they switch from singing to dialogue, there is a drop in volume. I didn't expect much from Schumacher, who is one of the worst big shot directors right now. He gave Batman a nipple for heaven sake. However, I'm pretty impressed with the actors and actresses. However, Butler didn't do it for me. His redention of Music of the Night didn't invoke the same emotion when I herd it on stage or when I hear Crawford singing it. He had the sinister look, but lack the charisma. The sets was stunning and the costumes are breathtaking. I think they will be a strong contender to win technical awards. Rossum impressed me with her voice.

Overall, I give it a 3.5 out of 5. If ALW gotten a better director, it would have been a masterpiece. Rob Marshall (who did Chicago) or Baz Luhrmann would've done a good job with the movie. Or, if we wanted to make it really twisted, Tim Burton.
