CB President checking in. I think that Silver is/was on her local CB as well?
I've been XE's CB President for 3 years and on their CB for almost 4 years now. What can I tell you about serving on CB? Ask away!
Of course, there is the obvious stuff like ensuring the chapter's financial stability from a housing/property standpoint, the Human Resources skills needed to hire, train and supervise the necessary house staff, learning about insurance needs and the various RM issues facing today's greek housing providers, and the knowledge you'll gain of both AOII policy and federal/state/local policies and laws. AOII has wonderful Corporation and Properties resources available to help the local Corp make sure the house is up and running properly.
Oh yeah, definitely don't forget about the fun you'll have in establishing and decorating a new house (what an incredible opportunity!) Then there's the excitement of surprising the members down the road, when the return in the fall one year to find new electronics or new furnishings or an updated study area (you get the idea) that the CB was able to provide.

The financial part won't bother me, and she said that HQ trains the CB really well. I just wonder if there is some other aspect that people don't like. Anyway, I am looking forward to it.

Like anything else, it depends. Some women have done it for years. Others do it because someone has to (or they get a call from their NS saying that the Corp President had to step down and ask if you'll do it? ) It's not always glamorous, it's not always easy and it's definitely what I thought I'd be doing for AOII at this point in my life. It's also the one of the most educational and rewarding things I've ever done as an AOII. It's hard at times, but I really do enjoy what I do.

Just like being the CA. I get more satisfication from seeing the chapter happy after they just made quota on Bid Day or when they just had a great time at a sisterhood retreat. I don't think being the CA or CBP is something that every AOII alumna can do. It takes lots of time and lots of dedication. You also have to ready to be on your toes at all times because you never know when you are needed. I know Nu Beta has been very lucky and has always had strong a strong CB. I don't know if I could be on CB because my math skills are horrible!

Hotty Toddy Gosh Almighty.....
Just supporting OleMissGlitter. I got your back!! I'm from Arkansas so I know how to handle you "Hogs"
BBQ anyone??
I'm so happy for AOPi at Arkansas. The AOPi chapter at Arkansas State (Jonesboro) is strong on campus so many girls from the NEA area are already familiar with the organization. I wish you guys all the luck in the world.
I'm sure I'll be obsessively lurking around to see if any girls from my hometown join next year. Sorry I'm too old to pass on the names of good senior girls to start recruiting!! Even my friend's younger siblings are seniors in college now. ughh..

I've been the corp board in the past. I'm currently the CA. I like the interaction with the collegiates better. But I'm getting off point. Corp Board has is positive points as opposed to being on the AAC.
1. Our corp only meets quarterly. This would be a plus for you since you are at a distance from the chapter.
2. Not as much collegiate drama. There is still drama, but it is indirect.
3. Our chapter has the chapter pay rent. So only 1 check comes in to the CB treasurer. The check is always good! (please refer back to collegiate drama)
I encourage everyone to try both AAC and CB. One is usually a better fit.

Update
Three major public relations events will take place in spring 2006 at the University of Arkansas. AOII will present “F.A.I.T.H.” to the student body on February 8, 2006. “Alpha Omicron Pi Strike Out! Arthritis” softball tournament will take place on March 4. AOII will also participate in “Greek Preview Weekend” on April 1.
A special thanks to Nu Beta Chapter (U of Mississippi) for agreeing to assist AOII next semester with two upcoming public relations events at the U of Arkansas!

Congrats on being selected as Corp. Board President! It will be a great opportunity.
As mentioned previously, our first event is on Feb. 8 and it is a “F.A.I.T.H.” presentation. Next up is “Alpha Omicron Pi Strike Out! Arthritis” softball tournament on March 4. Greek Preview weekend follows on April 1.
Boy, the fall activities will be here before you know it!

Nu Beta is getting all geared up for this! I don't want to talk about what exactly our members are doing in case it is a secret or something but they are excited and the best of the best will be there representing AOII! This is such a wonderful experience. I'm going to try and go up for one of the events as well!

Strike Out Arthritis!
Wish AOII luck - the "Strike Out Arthritis" softball tournament is tomorrow in Fayetteville. Hopefully the event will be a great success and will get our name out while raising money for a great cause. I can't go because I have to make the drive out there next weekend for AAC/CB training and I can't go 2 weekends in a row. It sounds fun, though!
