Brief intro before I respond:

My name is Linda or Flopsy and I am Naraht's wife. I pledge the fraternity over 10 years ago at Frostburg State University in Section 84. While I do not actively follow the Fraternity the way my husband does, from time to time he feels that I can add a new point of view to a discussion. We have three children that I tend to full time and I'm a part time student pursuing Economics.

He felt that I should take a look at this issue to see what I can make out of it:

I think I'd agree...Ignore it as long as possible, but if you can't then arm yourself with information 2 fold(I would only confront him if he makes the issue so bad that it interferes with ZP's ability to rush):

1. As mentioned before the history of ZP. Your traditions are not new to you, hence they are called traditions.

2. ZP has a special place among the chapters of APO. Given that it is true, there are expectations on what ZP does and does not do in the traditions it upholds. Furthermore, some of those traditions are not unique to just ZP. I'm sure you could find other chapters easiliy who uphold those traditions and who look to ZP to maintain them.

Right not im feel ashamed by ths fighting, is it really that serious? APO bro do yoru thing, dont worry about one persons comments, not unless its killing interest or they attacking you physically dont sweat it. To me blue and white fam, please let it go its not that serious, as a sigma i research other or and try to work with them. When you start writing articles people are going to take from it what they want. its always better to talk face to face about these issues. i understand the article but someone else maynot and my be offended by it which we see some of my APO bros were. So talk to them face to face and dont bring it to this kind of forum.

I've been away from the board for a long time... and i am just not catching up. I am a strong believer in the fact that when you have haters you must be doing something right. We have had haters since day one. From other frats to fellow students and now it seems as though administration who are in other frats are beginning to hate as well. Howard is so stuck sometimes in traditions that its about time that someone shake it up a little. Maybe finally, someone will get motivated to do what needs to get done on the yard.
Numba, Ive told you since day one, dont let no one take away the joy in wearing your letters. Thats the one thing I can say about Zeta Phi, we have the most spirit on campus,...maybe we're setting the standard for loving our frat. Maybe thats why ancient sororities and fraternities are trying to find new ways to be recognized on the yard as if no one knew they were there in the first place...
This happens every year its nothing new, but finally i can say that we did get the record straight and i am proud of my neos.

Clearly I've been quietly observing long enough....time to be the ignorant "ACE" I've always been...ahem...

Sensuret I, I feel that you should chill off of the pot shots that you've been taken at my chapter. If you or any PERSON felt THAT disrespected feel free to contact me or meet me on campus.

Somebody wanted to be down? Well I can't say if that's true or not but so what? I'm 100 percent sure it WASNT the guy who wrote the article. I mean it's not like APO doesn't have cats who CAN'T get into a Greek letter org.

Finally, Nobody from another org is going to "school" my chapter on anything.

As far as getting physical, there is no reason why any member of Phi Beta Sigma would get into it over a silly article that a lone wolf wrote out of silly frustrations.

I've sat by and watch this shit go on long enough. Please lay off the LOUD TALK.

If this offended any of you, then GET OVER IT.

P.S. there is NO SUCH THING AS ZETA PHI BETA SIGMA AS A ORGANIZATION. Talk about ignorance.
Okay...now to speak on this IGNORANT person's message........

#1: You need to get out ur feelings...it's painfully obvious that u r really being extra emotional about a situation that we are DISCUSSING...not fighting or arguing about...

#2:If we want to LOUD TALK your organization in OUR forum...then so be it...take that bs somewhere else...holla at me when someone is in UR forum room disrespecting....not OURS

#3: Never once did my bruh threaten to get "physical" as u ignorantly took the statement...the expression "talking to someone man to man, or like a man" indicates that the individual is going to go and soeak to the person in an adult and sincere matter in order to address the problems at hand...not got and "beat someone's azz" (seems to me someone didn;t cover "expressions and their meanings" in american literature 101)

#4: And once again this OUR forum room...so if we feel the need that you need to be SCHOOLED about ur org...then we will..we're free to say what we want....just like ur "bruh" felt the need to try and school us about our org in the hilltop...which he fucced up with, if i may say so myself (if u r going to put info about my org in the paper..please put everything in there that applies...not only what you were literate enough to read because u couldn't understand what the rest meant)

#5: Oh, and about the "get over it part"...here's the deal...We've built a bridge "to get over it", it's just that we haven't choosen to walk over just yet...we enjoy making you angry....lol

Okay. I'm done with this lame negro...hey sig...WAS THAT THE LOUD TALK you were referring for us to stop doing?!?!?!?!

Yep...I just threw fuel on the fire...u can call me an ARSONIST of sorts

But when people are bashing my Chapter, I can walk onto ANY BOARD I PLEASE.

I'm not into beign taken seriously, you do or you don't. I don't live my life so OTHERS can respect me. Didn't pledge Sigma for others to respect me. If you had the same attitude then you wouldn't have gotten your panties in a bunch about this article (notice how APO wasn't mentioned in it?). Oh well.
Let me SCHOOL u once again...

When the INDIVIDUAL person from APO wrote their article in response to the INDIVIDUAL sigma voicing his opinion.....the sigma took it as though the APO person was speaking on behalf of all of us....with lead to another sigma responding directly to APO (with a bunch of dumb she-it)...notice that the last response for another INDIVIDUAL APO member was in response but at the same time defended all org's...................

And it did have APO in the article....CLEAR AS DAY, DO YOU NEED ME GRANDMAs READING GLASSES?????? LET ME KNOW.

After reading some of the responses to Short Fuse's comments it became obvious that some didn't understand what he was talking about. The comment about "getting physical" was in response to Naraht's comment above. (SF, correct me if I'm wrong)

It's obvious that there needs to be a campus wide discussion about Alpha Phi Omega and NPHC traditions. There is a lot of ignorance on all sides that needs to be squashed so that stuff like this doesn't continue to happen. Especially since there are so many people who are members of both organizations.

Yes, but when he did that he quoted True 18 and then he then continued to rant on about how he isnt going to hit women. Thats why afterwards she reposted her article b/c he was quoting her and responding about things that she didnt even say - which I called him out on already - so if he would like to come and clarify it would be appreciated.

Yes, you are also correct that these two orgs at this particular campus need to have a discussion - which is something that True 18 ORGINALLY put in her article - once again DID ANYONE READ IT? Maybe that's where he got the whole "physical" thing from? But then again she corrected him on that also and reposted that she meant "face-to-face" talking....

Also Naraht's comment, as I have said before and continue to say was completely justified. I feel that this comment was NOT made in saying that a fight WILL break out - but it is something that PERHAPS may happen, notice it was in parenthesis. Its a reality that it COULD happen - no it shouldnt - but like the Scout Law says "BE PREPARED!"

It obvious that both sides are extremely upset and emotional about the situation. But now it has turned to how this person completely disrespected us on this forum. Im sure that ALL brothers are more than willing to listen to critisms good and bad.....but no one is going to listen to him nor take what he has to say seriously if he continues to present himself in such a manner.

I can use profanity because I got the MODS in my back pocket. Naw, just kidding. I have no money. Don't ban me mods.

I quote True 18 because True 18 said this

Quote:
To my seasoned brothers: What is the best way to approach this? I refuse to allow someone to disrespect my APO and have them even think they can get away with it. Or is this something that needs to be ignored? How do we address this situation and still maintain our integrity and position on this campus? Some people are saying "Let it go," but I can't. I was first speaking for cooperation, understanding and respect on campus, but now I have to defend my frat.
Maybe she wasn't talking physical but with the temperment of this thread it could've been taken as such. Just put me in True's position and you'd proably think I was talking about taking it outside. But that is dead because the point was made.

But what kills me is that this entire thread got started off a article that did NOT MENTION APO. Now I got people calling out Sigma talking bad about how we wasn't pledged right, which hits me personally because I pledged teh young man in question. Now if you can find anywhere in that article where APO got disrespected please let me know.

The responding article isn't what got me riled. So I don't need it read to me. The comments on this board is what got me riled.

From the first post.

Quote:
I was wondering, have anyone experienced on their campus other Greeks challenging APO legitimacy as a whole or on certain things?!?!?
Never did he question APO's legitimacy it was to the people fronting, if you KNOW APO isn't fronting and about buisness then it shouldn't even be a issue. I get so many comments about Sigma's WANTING to be like Ques but it doesn't bother me cause I KNOW I DON'T WANT TO BE A QUE (no disrespect to the Omegas). You should've just laughed it off and kept it moving. I think he was talkign about the Campus Pals but then again I'm not in the guys head so I have no idea really and neither do you.

Hey Sag, If you say so. If you say so.

I hope that this clears up my position but just like you won't have your org disrespected I won't have my org disrespected.

Shortfuse,

All of the comments that you have quoted (as far as I can tell) were made after the *second* perspective by a Phi Beta Sigma Brother, which did mention Alpha Phi Omega.

Well I got the heads up about the thread after that and I responded about the reason about the first (INITIAL) article in the Hilltop.

But I will indulge you on the second letter. That letter was written after the response to the first letter from someone within APO. Plain and simple. Once again APO took the first letter as an offense when your org was NEVER MENTIONED IN IT. The second letter was the brother's defense for a chapter member. Do I condone it? NO I don't because I don't believe in writing back and forth over a dead issue. A issue which is dead becasue APO was never mentioned in the first article. I would've laugh it off and kept it moving. But that's just me personally.

So can we all be in agreement that APO wasn't being dissed (having it's legitimacy challenged) in the first article (maybe the second one but I didn't see it) adn say that this thing got started over nothing?

Setting the record straight here...

"But what kills me is that this entire thread got started off a article that did NOT MENTION APO. Now I got people calling out Sigma talking bad about how we wasn't pledged right, which hits me personally because I pledged teh young man in question. Now if you can find anywhere in that article where APO got disrespected please let me know.

You should've just laughed it off and kept it moving. I think he was talkign about the Campus Pals but then again I'm not in the guys head so I have no idea really and neither do you."

I wrote a song about it, like ta hear it, here it goes

First, when I read the article, I didn't take offense because APO "was" mentioned because it wasn't, I took "offense" more like annoyed because I am member of a non-panhell frat on campus, APO NSF, Inc. I thought the article was disrespectful to all of non-panhell groups, KKPsi, TBS, Phi Sig, APO, GSS, and any other org with greek letters who does calls, etc...the howard bubble comment, I mean come on!!! But otoh, I only care about APO when the sun sets!

I posted this on our board b/c I am a brother of APO and I wanted to get an opinion from other brothers to see if they have experienced being challenged by others on their campus. I nor true ever accused Sigma of "challenging" my org because Sigma didn't write the article, a member of Sigma did. When True Blue wrote her article, she wrote it on behalf of herself, not the frat or any of its members and she states it in her article. Personally, I thought that the article issue was done with until I read the rebuttal to True's article in which someone made an "attempt" to call out ZP chap! And I 100% agree with you when you said, .
I hope that this clears up my position but just like you won't have your org disrespected I won't have my org disrespected

and we didn't... Now as far as the other stuff, I cant speak on it because I didn't write it...

So I hope that you see where I was coming from!
News

P.S. No one has the right to say anything about what another org does, including why sigmas step with canes (i thought that who ever questioned that was ignorant too!) unless you are a member. I mean, what is it to you!!! That is what bothered me the most. While I was at howard, and after graduation, I didn't understand a great deal of things, ie...why did the band pledge, but I learned that it wasn't my biz unless I was trying to join! So just like you didn't understand why we seemed so riled up, I didn't understand why it seemed to bother the initial author about what other orgs do! So let's agree on everyone minding their orgs business! (I don't mean to write that comment with an attitude!)
P.P.S. I am not sure of when you graduated from Howard, but if you have graduated from HU before 2003, then you may or may not know that there are some newly rechartered orgs on campus...and almost all of them do calls, probates, etc...

This thread is a trip! lol

When we decided to re-activate the Psi Phi chapter at Tenn State, I can't really say we had many problems with Panhell orgs, being that there was at least one representative (with the exception of Kappa...they were suspended) of the panhell orgs who had expressed sincere interest in joining.

Honestly, we've never concerned ourselves with what outsiders thought. We went from being "unknown" to having the largest fraternity on campus (and no, we don't accept just anybody), aquiring the positions of Student Government President, Editor and Chief of the schools paper, Editor and Chier of the Year Book staff, PRESIDENT of the Panhellenic Council, and a brother served as head drum major all in one year. Along with our numerous service hours, I'm sure y'all can clearly see who ran the yard.

There's a million and ten other things I would like to say, but do to time constraints, I'll just say this. When our chapter has events, the students are there. When we have Greek Mixers, the Greeks are there. When we conduct service projects, our members are there! With that being said, let those who are ignorant to our fraternity talk. While they are pondering the legitmacy of APO, you take that time and work even harder for the frat. Don't get caught up in the ignorance of others. Educate them if you can, but other than that, please keep on keeping on.

Shortfuse, I enjoyed reading your comments and replies. However, do keep in mind that this is the Alpha Phi Omega board. When entering this board, please have a level of respect on your mind before you type a single stroke! Thanks in advance.

Epitome: You came through on a respectful level. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. You have every right to come in and post when you see your sorority's name mentioned. However, there may not be a such thing as Zeta Phi Beta Sigma. However, try telling my aunt that...she only pledged Zeta in the early forties.

Out!
