When I joined, my chapter wore all-black knee length cocktail dreses with simple accents.
My first year as a sister at recruitment, we changed from black to alternating members wearing navy cocktail gowns and azure blue cocktail gowns. The idea was to create a waterfall effect. It did look pretty.
The following year, and in years since, the chapter all wear navy blue.
We don't wear our badges at pref, as our badge may not be worn with a formal gown unless it is for an installation banquet. Instead, we have nametags in the shape of the diamond, outlined by either 4 pearls or 4 violets (depending upon the year).
Our chapter allowed you to purchase your own clothing, but there was a very strict dress check on all items, including accessories.
