Roses to Applebee's (well, more so the training staff!). Tomorrow my group gets to be served by the other evening group and the training staff are going to make sure that I will get fish on my card of items to order! For those that aren't aware, tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and as a Catholic I am required to fast (only 1 regular size meal but I can have two smaller as long as both combined are not larger than the one - and no snacking!) as well as abstain from meat. Needless to say, I'm getting the Honey Grilled Salmon tomorrow for dinner! [this is the training week for the new restaurant opening on Monday so we're all having fun and learning LOTS!]
Also, Roses to the Wisconsin Rapids Sunrise Rotary Club! I am going to be a Rotarian again on Thursday morning and I'm SO excited about it!! I was a Rotarian down in Indianapolis in 2002 and this is me getting back involved. It also means that I've 'officially' become a professional volunteer! LOL
Roses to Silver and Silver's Mama who are helping me with my DAR papers as well as my Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War papers (in collecting documents for the DAR I found out the my great (x6) grandfather enlisted in the Union Army in October of 1864 at the age of 42!). Needless to say, its been fun and all this genealogy is giving me something more to do in my spare time (adding to the professional volunteer title! LOL)!!
Roses to all my other AOII sister - just because! You guys rock my world!

Okay, so I'm really strange - but you all already knew that!!
Anyway, I just wanted to say how excited I am tonight after work. Tonight was our Friends and Family night (as well as some overflow from those community people that donn't fit in tomorrow!). Basically its all training, food in free, etc. Good time had by many!
So, anywho, we were REALLY busy (served around 200 guests - in a 2 hour window of time!). The CEO of Wisconsin Hospitality was even there (sitting in my section)!! Afterwards, our managers sat us all down and said what a great job we did and this is the best opening they have ever seen!! With the exception of a few small glitches we were running better than some retaurants that have been open for years! Go us!! Anyway, just wanted to share (oh, and I even made about $40 in tips from my three tables - not too bad considering they only had to pay for alcohol!) I also had a lot of fun - basically, its just like flight attending only waitressing is on solid ground rather than 37,000 feet!
Sarah
P.S. Congrats to Tara and ASFLROSE!!

Okay, so now I have a thorn!
My hometown is full of cheap people! High school kids, that I can understand but I had a family of 3 sit in my section. On a $60 bill they left me a $2 tip!! Yes, you read that right two dollars! Even for horrid service I don't leave a 3.5% tip! The high school kids left $3 on a $40 bill so that is a bit better. Maybe people really don't realize that waitresses (and waiters) only make tips (basically the $2.35 we make per hour covers our taxes). But still, general rule of thumb is at least 15% of your bill is left as a tip.
Anyway, that's my vent for today!
