That Normi woman was a mess! They said they didn't like Lisa, but they didn't even speak to her (from what we were shown).
I'm sure Normi went around talking about Lisa.
Sam should have given the Bowers money to get rid of that pool that doesn't work.
Are they doing casting calls in your area? I see they will be here in the NO next week.

Was Normi the hag who looked like she had serious sun damage? I heard what she had to say. I don't like Lisa, but Normi is no prize herself.
And as an aside, my housemates know of Jurek, Sam's husband. His "company" owns a car that's been in their dealership for service.

so i caught the premier episode tonight and now i know what you all were talking about. tammy is a mess!!!
how she gone say she's cooking breakfast and then doesn't?
how the first words out of her mouth in the morning are "i need coffee."
how she gone demand someone cook her lazy azz some lunch. around my parts, we don't COOK lunch, we make it. she need to make her way to the kitchen and fix her own damn food!! then to sit there talking about "i'm not in the mood to fix lunch" and that whole "get in there and get me some food." AND GAVE THEM A TIME LIMIT!!!! i was too through!!
and at the waterpark, how she gone say she wants to make sure they are safe. i thought that meant more than walking out there, yelling to mr. biggin "watch them" and going to sit her azz down.
and mela! why do you let your kids call you mela? why didn't you put on some better clothes when you went to meet them?
and nana is in great shape! i wonder why she don't slide tammy right in her face!!!
and btb, you asked how far ft. worth is from dallas. of course it depends on what part of dallas you're in but let's say it's not too far away but close enough.

Apologies for crashing the board, but caught the premiere episode tonight too. While I do think TTT was mean to the Biggins, I disagree with the part about Nana. If you've read the profile on the Nakamuras, TTT owns a car wash with her friend. Dr. Nakamura works all day and the kids go to school. Nana is the one who does most of the chores. In many Asian families, the sole responsibilty of the children is to go to school and to get an education. Growing up, I wasn't allowed to clean the bathrooms or do kitchen work. I had to keep my own room clean of course, but my main job was to study.

I always thought it was part of Asian culture that the elderly are revered too. Is that the case? These actions did not speak of "reverence" to me.

Eclipse, i always understood that as well. Trailer Tammy clearly isn't aware of that and what's worse her doormat of a husband conveniently forgot it. the only person who seemed to respect Nana was Mrs. Biggins. watching that man allow his wife to treat his mother-in-law like an unpaid worker made my blood boil...

Reverence is important, but education is moreso. To those who have "made it" for the first time (i.e. the first generation to be "comfortable"), often, the belief is that the kids shouldn't have to do what the older generation went through. I am sure the Nakamura kids have their own responsibilities, such as keeping their own space clean, but other forms of housework might be considered a "no-no".

Tau, thanks for the crash course. Speaking for myself, I had a problem watching Nana do EVERYTHING, as apparently did many others on this board. And while education was important to my family as well (I'm the first in my family to go to college) I was also taught how to keep my room clean as well as wash clothes, scrub toilets, bathtubs, kitchen floors, wash dishes, etc.
You get the picture.
I'm not saying that what we saw was wrong, because we can't say what's right or wrong in another culture, just that many of us had to balance education along with other household "chores", and even work; and it seemed that Nana was being taken advantage of by a healthy, able-bodied family. Pity what would happen if Nana went to Japan and never came back. We'd probably see the family on TLC's Clean Sweep.

Did anyone catch the new commercial last night with Mela and her family? They will be on a new FOX show call Makeover my Family (or something like that). They are all getting clothing makeovers, personal training, and their house is getting demolished and rebuilt. From the looks of it it looks like it's going to be a two story house . It comes on in two weeks or sometime in September. I wonder if they were allowed to save the money that Tammy allocated for the house. Seems like a FOX version of Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

Maybe they can use it to pay the taxes on the house. Apparently a lot of people who get home makeovers have to sell their houses because of the taxes the govt. charges on it.

my old stylist did mela's hair for the show. if they show him on t.v., i know yall are going to laugh at him, but he's good people.
one thing i want to add to my rant about TTT is her use of the non-word "positivism" was grating my nerves!!!!

i finally watched the episode from the other night with the conclution of the biggins/nakumura family. i thought it was too funny that while she was reading that story, anthony's main concern was who used the last of the bbq sauce and put it back in the cabinet!!
