"Dear Mom" (Letters from College)
Brothers,
Here is a new thread I thought I'd start for our reading enjoyment, entertainment, and a little nostalgia. I found some letters I had written home from college in the early '70s which my mom kept (bless her soul - she passed away four years ago at the age of 90).
There are 9 letters I have found so far and I will post one per day on Greek Chat. Feel free to have fun with these, ask questions, or just marvel at the prices or my naivite. Maybe you guys have some letters too? If so, do me a favor and save them until I post mine, and then we can move on to yours. This could continue for quite some time. Good for some laughs.
As an introduction, I grew up on Long Island. One Lambda Chi (Rick) who lived nearby contacted me (Jon) and another incoming freshman (Gene) during the summer of 1971 and we got together numerous times before the three of us drove down to Florida in my 1965 Mercedes-Benz 190C, affectionately known as The Marrakesh Express. Pre-rush, you know. All three of us ended up being charter members of Beta-Nu, although it was Colony 199 at that time.
I hope you like these.
In ZAX,
Jono (aka "Jon")
