just call up the i.o. phone number @317-872-0540 about ther badges. that is how i bought my white gold turquoise and pearl one(it is gorgeous, by the way!). as for affiliating with another chapter, this is the info. in the general manual:
the application for transfer of membership form must be submitted by the collegian desiring to transfer. the form is available from i.o. the completed form is sent directly to i.o., where it is processed and sent to the transferring members former chapter. after the pres. and treasurer have checked that you left the chapter in good financial standing they will sign the form and return it to i.o. i.o. will send the form to your transfering chapter. the new chapter will vote to accept or reject the application of transfer of membership. no chapter fees will be billed to the transferring member until the transfer of membership is finalized and the member is accepted for affiliation.until accepted the transferring member may not attend chapter meetings and has no voting privileges.however, if invited, she may attend social functions by paying the regular fee for these events. so you will need to get the form from i.o., fill it out and return it and then personally contact the chapter at your new school so that they can get to know you while this paperwork goes back and forth...they can't vote on you until they know you!
if your new school has recruitment first thing in the fall you may want to wait a week or two after recruitment before you meet them,so that the chapter settles into a routine and you don't get lost in the shuffle.best of luck to you!! lisa

Some co-workers on the 2nd floor had an ice cream party since one the employees just announced she was pregnant. They invited my suite to go grab some ice cream. I think I grabbed about 7 cherries for my toppings. I want more. Would it be bad of me to sneak down there and steal some more?

No, of course not. They invited, and if their work fridge is anything like mine, any leftovers will get pitched in a week. You are keeping things from going to waste.
Now for my random...I'm on vacation at the beach, and have had only 1 day of sun. Unfortunately, I failed to reapply SPF after taking a beating in the surf, and now I am so toasty it will be unlikely I will be enjoying the last 2 days of the week, which are supposed to be fairly nice.

this made my day
Background:
My younger biological little sister's friend, Jamie W., is going to be a freshwoman at U. of South Florida this fall, where we have a colony I think. I've known this for a while but never mentioned Greek Life just bc I didn't want to pressure my sister to talk to her friend about it, that'd be a little awkward. Let her have her friends and that's that. I love Jamie. She and my sister Amanda went to the same HS (my sister's a Jr now) and she took Amanda under her wing at when my family moved from NY to Fla, both at school and at church. She's a great friend and will be missed when she's in Tampa!
The Rest of the Story
Last nite my mom and some ladies from church are at Jamie's house for a 'mom's night' or something or other. My mom has her Zeta Mother's Pin on and since Jamie and are both busy at our respective homes packing and what not Mrs. W and my mom start talking moving, going away to college and then about Greek Life. Mrs. W says how Greek Life isn't really something she's for and some standard parent reservations, drinks, hazing, cost of dues, etc. She also says "well it's only for 4 four years anyway, Jamie's going to think about it and just enjoy her first year there she's not rushing or anything"
MY MOM, who's not a Zeta but just a happy parent of one, says "Well it's different at every school but you know it's for more than just college!" and proceeds to talk about all our great philanthropic work, tell what a great experience I had at college and how I'm still involved now. She includes her standard remark "Zeta and Michelle have been good to each other!" She spoke of the great friends I've made here in the city through our greek connections and how much she loves that I'm a ZTA.
Ladies, I'm just so happy we have become sisters through such a great organization. Zeta was my family while I was away at college in PA. I'm so blessed because of it, sometimes I don't realize it until something like this happens! Greek Life or no Greek Life for Jamie I'm just so proud of my mom for speaking so positively about Greek Life & Zeta!

Mich - That is so cool! My mom is the same way. She has sent so many girls my way so I can tell them about Zeta and write MIS' for them. I have my first legacy...an indirect...going through Recruitment in 3 weeks. Her mother is a ZTA and is active in her alumnae chapter so we're crossing our fingers.
I just got back from vacation...4 days on the beach 2 at a waterpark and one on a river. I applied 45 spf sunscreen 3-4 times a day and still got burned on my back! Grr.
BUT...I got one hour to go antique shopping in Corpus Christi, TX, and that gave me just enough time to go to one store. I found one of our 50 year pins and snagged it!! Hurray! (Only 33 more years until I get my own WV!)

ZTAMich - yes, we have a chapter at USF. If your sister's friend would like to know any info you can pass my name along. I live here in Tampa and can point her in the right direction.
ETA: I put colony and it's actually a chapter, my bad - I forgot about their installation in Feb.

Thanks for the info on the new USF Chapter Like I said my sister's friend doesn't want to rush this year but we'll see. She's interested but just wants to hold off and take in all of freshmen year. Hopefully she stays in touch with my sister and I can stay updated. Perhaps I should send a MIS even though she isn't thinking of it yet?

It's a miracle! Three weeks after moving into my new place, I've finally found a way to get the Internet to work. Woohoo!

Work has gone very badly today. I am coordinating the relocation of several divisions for my agency, and witch 3 days until the movers were supposed to start, we had to pull the plug. The building is not ready, and the landlords did not get the necessary permits for us to occupy (in fact, they failed 3 times for the same reasons). I have most of the staff already in boxes, another unit that was already off-site whose lease expires on Sunday (now that will cost my city a bit of $$), and my credibility within my agency is not at it's highest.
This delay also means that I will not be out on patrol as soon as I was supposed to be (was going back to street duty the weekend after Labor Day). I miss street duty. It's a lot of fun.
My one bright spot is that my alumnae chapter meeting is tomorrow night and I can spend time with my ZTA sisters and not think about work.
Okay, so there is my random. Sorry if it is a downer, but sometimes, these days happen.

i know just what you are going thru!!
we built a commercial building and planned on moving our business into it over the weekend, but had to change our plans thanks to charley!! my part of the office is moved, altho still in boxes, about 95% of our shop(steel doors and frames and welding equipment) is moved and none of our warehouse(commercial door accessories, commercial bahtroom fixtures, etc). we had been scheduled to have our phones switched today, but they have moved us back until next week, due to charley. that makes it very hard to run a business. calgon, take me away!!!

UNT Zetas on TV
I flipped the TV on yesterday morning to catch the weather but they were in the middle of an interview with a bunch of CUTE girls. I thought it was a piece about a local high school but then my 7 year old daughter yells, "Look, Mom! They're Zetas!"
Sure enough! It was the opening of Sorority Row at North Texas and the girls were all wearing their letters. They panned the camera around and you could see some ADPi's, too, as well as more Zetas in the background holding a banner. Very good PR!

I had on a bid-day shirt tonight at the gym while I worked out with my trainer. Plain white with just a crown and Zeta Tau Alpha on the front, dr. seuss theme on the back. I was doing some abs work and he looks down at me and says "Come on, 5 more for the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha!" Thinking of doing abs for Zeta made me smile!

I'm breaking up with my boyfriend of 3 years. I love him to death but we just seem to be destroying each other lately. I know it's for the best but it's going to be so hard to let go. I've been waking up by his side for the last 3 years and we spend every moment we can together and the thought of living in our apartment alone scares the living s@&! out of me. What a week.

I totally understand how you feel. My former boyfriend (and current husband) went through this same thing when we were dating. We dated for four years and then we needed to take a break from each other. A few monthes passed and we came back together. After another 4 1/2 years, we ended up getting married. We just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last December.
Right now, you need to focus on what is the best decision for you now. Don't worry about what the future holds. Lean on your friends and Zeta sisters!
