Good luck James! You can do it, bro. I have a confession, I've been feeling like a fat kid who can't keep his hands out of the cookie jar when it comes to bread. While I'm not getting fat, I just feel really bad for having 4 loaves of sliced bread in my freezer and one on the kitchen counter. It just burns me up knowing what I could look like should I not eat bread/pasta. My old diet consisted of just cheese, veggies, meat, water, milk and the occasional piece of bread. It was awesome, but expensive. My problem started when I decided I wanted a girlfriend. And it was just my luck that the one I chose was a bread lover. It got to the point where neither of us liked food that wasnt good homemade shit. We're trying to get out of that since homemade food puts weight on you like the pillsbury dough boy. Still, its hhhhhaaaarrrrrdddd to get back into the swing of things. Since we started eating like that she went from a size 3 to a size 5. I was like OMGWTF! Thats when I decided we both needed to get back on my diet. Still, once you let your stomach go a lil'while it takes mega work to get back to the Men's Fitness look.

Anyhow, congrats and keep us posted.

Not near it, its just she jumped 2 sizes up in 6 months. I couldnt even imagine me going up 2 waist sizes in 6 months. I end up like those people who have the little lines on their skin from gaining too much wieght too fast. I mean, I noticed it...but she's the one who said something about it.

But I'm sure she's not looking for you to say OMGWTF!!!

It's cool that your getting back on track with a healthy diet.

But instead of saying OMGWTF yeah you definitly need to lose weight after she pointed it out, the better approach would be something like "oh you want to lose weight, well I took off weight/maintained my weight with this diet, we should do it togetehr"

Nuts (any kind), peanut butter, soy products and protein bars fall into that category.

You can also take suppliments. That was something that was suggested by my trainer when I told him I don't eat a lot of protein. But Em, I am sure you know this already... heavy protein diets and diabetics don't mix.

I actually went shopping at Whole Foods yesterday. It's like a Trader Joes but with a lot more selection. I bought a TON of fruits and vegis. As well as fish and veggieburgers. I have never had a veggieburger but I figure it's better than the regular beef patties you buy in the store. Look for products with vegetable protein in them.

I'm actually not looking for a heavy protein diet actually. I'm looking to go Vegan for a while.
So obviously with the lack of animals and animal byproducts in my diet I need to get the protein from other things.

Ah okay.

Tofu maybe? And endame beans... mmm, those are good. Pretty much any appetizer you can get at a sushi bar is good.

But if you are going vegan, I would DEFINITELY try out places like Whole Foods and/or Trader Joes. I dont know if they have them in Canada, but they gotta have something similar. They have a lot of vegan choices.

And of course, suppliments.

My dad lost 35 pounds on a Vegan diet, until he went off it. I'm trying whatever I can short of becoming anorexic to try and lose weight. Tried WW and it worked but my trouble is sticking to it.

My dad's problem was he wasn't getting all the nutrients he needed so I want to make sure I eat the right foods and take the right supplements.
