I'm not going to lie - the end of Charlize's speech, about her boyfriend and mom - left a few tears in my eyes!

She gave a very classy, and touching acceptance speech. Especially the way that she thanked her mom.

Has anyone seen this movie? What is it about?
It's Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara playing their characters from A Mighty Wind.

It's a typical Christopher Guest "mockumentary" about a special concert where 3 folk groups all represented by the same guy get together for a tribute to him.

Its one of those movies that doesn't play well to big screen audiences. Personally, I think its hilarious, and I got the DVD. It all depends on if you "get" that type of humor.

Smile Best Actor: Sean Penn

He was excellent, but not as outstanding as Tim Robbins, in Mystic River.

I was pulling for Bill Murray, though.

Bill Murray is hilarious... my favorite part of that movie was within that segment of the movie... when he kept asking the translator if the photographer was aying more - b/c her translations were so short you have to see it - it's funny

Sean Penn rules though!! I'm glad he won!

Well I'm obviously not as excited as everyone else about LOTR, mainly because I haven't seen, so no harm no foul.

I really, really, really wanted Johnny Depp to win, but man when they (the Academy) showed the preview of Mystic River, just that one scene with Sean Penn had me tears. I soooooo need to go see that movie.

I actually recorded the oscars, so now I need to go back and watch it.

Although, them having all the winners on stage at the end kind of ruined it for me. I already know who won most of the awards, which kind of sucks.

Go Renee Zellwegger for winning, she was pretty awesome in Cold Mountain.

There weren't alot of surprises tonight. Everyone who was predicted to win did. Made it a little boring. I thought Billy Crystal was funny, especially the opening. Getting to the fashions: Renee had the best dress IMHO. Very old Hollywood. I also liked Catherin Zeta-Jones, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Julia Roberts (I agree with mullet81 about the hair), and Angelina Jolie. I liked Charlize's dress but she was wearing WAY too much bronzer. Chick was orange. Sandra Bullock looked good from the waste up. Was that really fur around her dress? The big bow didn't work for Oprah. The color was nice though. Uma Thurman was absolutely the Worst dressed. She looked like she was on her way to Octoberfest. Wasn't feelin the ruffles on Sophia Coopola's dress. And Diane Keaton was heinous as usual.

Sean Penn was fantastic in MYSTIC RIVER and after being passed over 3 times prior, I'm glad that he won (I loved Johnny Depp too).

I saw MONSTER today and I'm glad that Charlize Theron won. That being said, an upset by Keisha Castle-Knight from WHALE RIDER would have been awesome! Has no one else seen WHALE RIDER?

Can we say SWEEP??????

YAY for Lord of the RIngs... even though after the 6th award, i was getting sick of hearing their name over and over again. like someone said before... everyone who was predicted to win, won which made it really boring.

I really wanted Pirates to win SOMETHING. And Johnny Depp looked hot.

I am glad billy crystal hosted again this year. As cheesy as his song and dance routines are in the beginning, they still crack me up.

Question: I already forget but who hosted last year?

And why did they keep saying "last year's winner" to Nicole Kidman and Adrian Brodey? Didn't Halle Berry and [insert other actor's name here cuz I can't remember for some reason] win LAST YEAR???

WAH! I wanted to see Legolas. ... in a tux...
