I'm pretty sure AEPhi only has one style of badge, as does Tri Delta.

Which woman is that and is it state or US senator? These are a few that I found claiming to be the first female senator.

Elected State Senator
Martha Hughes Cannon, Utah, 1896 http://historytogo.utah.gov/mhcannon.html
Gladys Pyle, South Dakota, 1938, as first republican woman http://epics.ecn.purdue.edu/iwt/pcik...uthdakota.html

Elected US Senator
Hattie Wyatt Caraway, Arkansas, 1932 http://dmla.clan.lib.nv.us/docs/nsla...yth/myth47.htm

Appointed US Senator (just thought that it was interesting because of the date)
Rebecca Latimer Felton, Georgia, 1922 (www.gawomen.org/honorees/feltonr.htm)

My Sorority was the first Seventh-Day Adventist Sorority and was the first at my college. Our colors are Turquoise and Black which I believe is very unique.

Not true - AZD uses gold as one of our colors!

As for an interesting fact, the Panhellenic Creed was written by an AZD - Lena Grandin Baldwin in 1904.

ETA: Regarding the badge thing, AZD has a separate colony pin used when establishing a colony on campus. What other groups have separate colony pins? We also have mother & father pins. What groups have these as well? Just curious. I guess we need to start a new thread devoted to what types of jewelry we all have!

AOII is does not use a crest because our founders felt that it represented midevil ideals and we were based on Greek ideals. In the place of a crest on letter heads and things you will find that AOII uses a rose. (The Jacqueminot rose that is

So cool to read such unique tidbits from each group!

Phi Sigma Sigma also uses gold! Our colors are king blue and gold - very similar to AZD's and DDD's. Also, I dont think the other sororities colors are "common" at all. Silver and bordeaux? Wine? Mode? Cafe au lait?? Just a few examples. Sorority color names are so interesting to me.

We also have a colony pin, in the shape of a very small sphinxhead. I like the design of AZD's a little better, but I like that we have them nonetheless

We also have mother pins. Not sure about fathers.

ETA: When trying to think of something unique about Phi Sig, I came up with the fact that we have a conclave every year, instead of every 2-3 years. Now I am sure that's not unique only to Phi Sig, I'm more curious as to which groups have them every year as well!

-Beta Sigma Phi Also use Black and Gold as their colors.

My sorority is unique to me on a local level. I could really care less how we are unique nationally because I really haven't met many girls from other chapters. I just have my campus. So on my campus-we are unique because we almost always are number one in grades, most of our girls are dating guys that are not in fraternities and we usually end up a lot of sophmores and juniors during rush. We are usually the biggest on campus despite the fact that we do not automatically cut anyone not a freshman. We are also unique because we are friends with all the greeks-guys and girls and not known for being "the girls who hang wth so and so's" or whatever. But we still have tons of socials and participate in all the campus activities. We also have a big variety of girls-fat, skinny, smart, not so smart but really really nice, pretty, black, Indian, white, Asian. We have it all and it hasn't seemed to be a weekness-but a strength! That's why I think we are unique!

LOL - I got into an interesting conversation about the lack of a likeness of Elizabeth Williams Mitchell. It ended up that, someone whose field is in forensic sciences should take the portrait of her father, and a few of her descendants (of which there are many, to my understanding), and come up with a "possible likeness"!!

Things you consider doing for your sorority!!

Phi Kappa Psi has a seperate colony badge, and a seperate colony pledge pin.

Also, only members may wear the badge, so if a Phi Psi wants to pin his sweetheart, he does so with a special sweetheart pin.

While the names of most fraternities and sororities are made up of Greek letters (not considering words like "Fraternity," "Order," "International," or the like, of course), there are those with non-Greek letter names -- Triangle, FarmHouse, Acacia and Ceres being a few examples. So far as I know, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is the only fraternity/sorority to have a name made up of both Greek letters and a non-Greek letter word.

Again so far as I know, we're the only group with red, black and gold as our colors.

We're the only national, social fraternity with a special interest in music.

Gold is a popular color for sororities. DPhiE's colors are royal purple and pure gold.
