I did, and I would agree -- although the two aren't really very similar.

The company I worked for previously had a Tech Ops Center at 17 Battery Place and a condo in Battery Park City where I stayed often. The enormity of 9-11 was staggering. So many people know or knew so many others who were affected.

The JFK assasination was a shock to the national psyche, but really wasn't personal. Nobody really knew how to react -- whether to worry about a revolution, the USSR, a potential nuclear attack, etc.

My only problem is when people hide behind 9-11 to further some agenda that really has nothing to do with the terrorist attacks. Thankfully, there hasn't been a huge amount of that.

The view I can't stand is definitely ignorant people like my roommate who have an issue with gay couples. I think it's perfectly natural and just want everyone to be happy, but she freaks out everytime she sees someone as portrayed as gay on TV or meets someone. She actually feels the need to comment on their clothing and discuss the fact that they are gay. To me, it's just something natural (not saying I would do it or anything), and we should respect them just as much as we respect anyone else...

Ok, end of my rant on that subject!!!

Isn't the line supposed to be:
"Not that there's anything wrong with it...."?
(Yes I love Seinfeld!)
I agree. It kills me when someone says: "My Gay friend, my Black friend, my Jewish friend, etc"

Views that are ignorant and shows the person didn't take time to do some homework (aka research) before uttering them. I also can't stand stereotypes and prejudice views.

Funny you should mention it.... but a Canadian politician from our Alliance party (think Republican), and a member of the his party's "family values" caucus is know suffering for doing exactly what you said. The backlash from the media and public have effectively destroyed his career, and I have to say good ridance.

I agree... I love how they back the whole "this isn't the party, this is one man". Isn't it curious how it's always one person after another after another.... I still can't believe the PCs want to merge. "Promote tolerance from within" ... the PCs must forget that they are outnumbered to a great extent.

When people pretend to know everything about something they know very little of (i.e. another religion..."Oh _______s believe in _______.")

When people spout off what they've been told as fact

When people say "I won't vote for that measure because it doesn't help me" when in reality it wouldn't hurt them either. This especially applies to things that help the elderly or the unemployed. One day you may be old or out of work too.

When people try to bring religion into everything. Not everyone shares your faith and some may not have a faith at all. If they wanted a religious debate, they'd ask for it.

I agree. Also people making comparison between Phish and Grateful Dead. If you actually listen to the two band, they sound nothing a like, except for the noodling part.

The belief that Islam is a religion of peace

As a Muslim, the point of view that Islam is not a religion of peace and/or is a religion of violence really gets under my skin.
In addition:

the view that women are created for men's sexual pleasure

the view that we went into Iraq really because of WMD's

the view that the West is the pinnacle of human civilization

the view that everyone should be like "US"

the view that the Democratic Party has the best interest of Black folk in mind and consistenly deserves our vote

just add in a couple of far right wing conservative views to boot

When people and their views are perceived as a single entity. You can dislike what someone thinks without disliking a group of people, i.e. republicans, democrats, prolifers, prochoicers, etc.

amen to that

i also don't like the opinion that our nation's leader cannot be wrong because he's in charge....instead every other nation's leaders must be wrong.

oh and i don't like people who are against equal rights and protection unter the law for gays
