Lightbulb Although I am Not Actively Pursuing Membership At This Time...

...If the propsed scenario were to actually happen, I would do what I am doing now: Focus on my own self-improvement--spiritually, mentally, emotionally, academically, etc. If God were to make this happen then I would think that since everything happen in life for a reason, then it must not be my "time" to possibly become a member of ABC Org. Of course, I would feel sad & disappointed that I may never get the chance to see if I would be granted membership...and I would hope & pray that they may re-open their doors someday...In the meantime I continue to volunteer with the org...But, I would NEVER seek membership in another org. b/c I know in my heart that no other org. is right for me...It's either one way or no way!!! If they were to NEVER RE-OPEN their doors then I would die as an interest of ABC Org...

Wink

I would write letters to the local chapter president, the regional president and the national organization. I would get a petition and eventually find somebody to sue.

I would not just give up.

Exclamation

First, I'd like to say hello to everyone, as this is my first post on GC. I'm a long time silent observer, but a first time poster. Thanks for having me.

Secondly, I wanted to comment on the following:

thesweetestone, no disrespect, but I don't think suing the org will ever play out in your favor. Also, sue them on what grounds?

I was give my opinion in this matter. Which is what I thought was being asked of me by the thread. No where in My post did I ask for YOUR advice on the situation. Mainly because it's just hypothetic situation. Also, no where in my post did I say I would sue the organization. The question at the beginning of this thread was what would you do? Not for you to sit back and dissect my opinions. You need to get your on opinions and stay off mine. I don't need you telling me how iI should feel, what I should say or what I should do. Why don't you post what you would do so everyone can take your statements apart. Maybe you should just keep on reading and not posting if you don't have any original thoughts of your own. I personally don't need your advice on this hypothetical situation.

Also, If the organization is already being sued don't quote me like I have something do with it. Because my comments were made in reference of a HYPOTHETICAL situation. That is not the reason "we" are in the Blip, blip, blip, blip, situations "we" are in now.

Thank you and no disrespect to you either.

You could only have a viable lawsuit if you were ENTITLED to membership, but were denied it ....we all know that's generally not the case.

In most cases, applicants who frivilously sue organizations will NEVER be accepted for membership.

This is a message board.......

I find it funny how people say smart azz remarks and then end with "no disrespect". WTH??? All the girl did was ask a question in response to your (thesweetestone) comment. If you don't want to answer it and have nothing else to say about it, then you should "keep on reading and not post". But then again it's a message board so people can post whatever they want.

Side note:
Hey Soror AKA2D'91. Yes, I've been in hiding. But it's good to be back and Happy New Year's to you also eventhough it's March. LOL.

I didn't make a smart assed comment to her. If she would have read ALL the posts under this thread she would know i'm not the only person who said that.
I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE DISAGREEING WITH ME. I DO have a problem with people taking my statements and making ASSumptions that are not there. (Sunnydays96) maybe, you should READ more carefully before you post. You completely took my post out of context Thank you

It's kinda nice to be so popular! dang!

Everybody just claim down I'm not sueing anybody. This is a HYPOTHETICAL. I not even seeking membership right now.

Oh, please.........

How do you know what she did or didn't read. You are the one ASSuming she didn't. Maybe she only wanted to comment on YOUR post because (in my opinion) it was the silliest to say the least. I think I do need to read more carefully because my eyes are interpreting your name as "therudestone".

It's sad to see people come on the boards and start drama just to be "popular". Popular among who? Yourself doesn't count.

And people wonder why they don't make it into whatever sorority. That, "if I don't get in I'm calling Nationals" attitude will not get you anywhere. Now don't ASSume I'm talking about you (therudestone), oops I mean thesweetestone-there goes my sight again.

Lastly, you still didn't answer the question posed to your hypothetical situation. If you aren't then you arent, so don't continue to disrupt the thread.

Folks sorry for the disruption on my part, back to the program............

I just recently went through a similar situation. I wanted to be an AKA period, not just belong to a sorority or wear colors, or step, etc. I wanted to be an AKA or nothing else. In 1999 when I transferred from a 2yr college after graduating to a 4yr college to finish my BSN., the school I transferred to did not have a chapter. So that year (My junior year) the AKAs spent getting chartered and recognized on campus. Ok so im thinking they'll take in new members eventually right? WRONG! They did not take in new members until after my senior year. I had graduated already. So on to grad chapter. Well it has been a 3-year process, long hours and lots of prayer and much love and support from within the chapter and FINALLY I CROSSED INTO AKA LAND ON FEBRUARY 10TH 2002 IN CINCINNATI OHIO, SIGMA OMEGA CHAPTER. My point is being in a sorority is not about colors or just being in a group. it is deeper than that. You have to believe in your soul that this is THE ONLY ORGANIZATION FOR YOU and if you don't, if all you want to do is wear any colors than you should really think about if being in a sorority is for you. If I couldn't be an AKA, I would not be anything else.

Unhappy

I would be upset, cry, pray, and hope for the ban to be lifted.

After regaining my composure, I would continue maintaining good grades, doing community service, researching my organization of choice, and participating in organization sponsored events.

Unhappy All honesty

I would be hurt, but that doesn't mean I'll give up. I would try to find out why that is, is there anything I could do. If there isn't I would just wait until they finally do.

Actually, I'm in a somewhat simular situation. There has not been an intake for any org. on campus since Fall 2000, and if our university president has his way, there won't be another. So to answer the question, I'd be sad and disapointed,I'd even shed some tears, but I would continue to support chapter events and service projects, not just because I want to be a member, but because I love the organization. Hopefully at some point before I died the moratorium would be lifted, and I could pursue membership.
