Sir Fidel was adopted as the official mascot of Phi Mu in the mid to late 1970's. Up until that time the lady bug was used by many chapters. After Sir Fidel was adopted, chapters were discouraged from using the lady bug when another GLO had officially adopted the lady bug as their mascot.
My chapter used lady bugs locally, but were moving more and more to the lion. I have a mix of lady bug and lion memorabilia from my college years.
My husband and kidlings have given me a HEFTY collection of Lions and PINK

(even a pink lion one valentines day!)
