Yes. I don't kill bugs either. Which is hard for me because they totally freak me out. I usually slide a sheet of paper under them and stick them on the wall outside.

Shine, I agree with everything you've said on this thread. I also don't kill bugs. I either catch them and set them free outside or ask my boy to do it. He's a vegetarian too.

So do you think you are above animals? Do you think you are #1 and deserve better treatment? Do you think that animals were put on this earth for your personal use?
Disgusting AND ignorant to boot.

Can we all respect the fact that some folks like meat/fur/leather and some (including you) don't? You have the reasons that you believe justifies you beliefs and others have their. It works both ways.
I am all for people having their convictions, but the nerve of you calling others ignorant because they disagree is short-sighted and naive at best. So far, no one has degraded the views of those that believe in animal rights, so please let's not do that to those of us who do not share your views or reasoning. Ummkay?
So to answer your question....
You betta believe that I DO consider human beings to be BETTER than animals and don't have a problem saying it.
If I am driving down the street and a squirrel runs out in front of me and my options are to (a) swerve to the side and risk hitting the car next to me causing an accident (or a loss of human life) or (b) to hit the squirrel, guess who will be on the short end of the stick?

shine,
i'm agreeing with you 100%.
i can't believe how casually some of you are describing the way animals are slaughtered as perfectly normal and you'd do it yourself. disgusting in my book.

I believe fur is tacky, but I don't think it's totally immoral. If anything, the creation of synthetic fabrics (like Gore-Tex, Synchilla, and others) have made fur useless for cold weather protection, and only for the aesthetic value. My mother had an angora (ie, the rabbit is only shaved) jacket, and got rid of it because it seemed wasteful. She sold it to a licensed furrier and got a pretty penny.
Just because an animal is being raised for meat doesn't mean it has to be treated poorly. Think of Kobe cows. Beer massages and regimented (but not frequent) exercise is much better than being chained to a dark pen and injected with hormones, doncha think?
And being raised on a farm has NOTHING to do with it. I know lifelong meat eaters, as well as vegans, who were raised on farms. It also doesn't give you any more credibility in these situation.

I had an angora sweater when I was little. I didn't know that it was valuable. It sure was soft. I also had a white rabbit fur coat and matching muff and hat. I loved it. I felt bad when I realized how it was made.
I don't think that fur it tacky or immoral. I think that there is a place and time. I don't see a day when I will own one. I think that some fur coats are beautiful.

My mom is a fur person...she has a few furs.
But as for me...NO THANK YOU!
I do love leather though
I eat meat but I do NOT use cosmetics that are tested on animals
