Ok, post time! Tonight was an open house. We started by going over what was going to happen during the week, and doing some icebreaker activities. Then, we moved on to the houses. Here's the scoop (in chronological order).
Slytherin - Opened the doors, and started singing. My first glimpse of rush! They had the cutest outfits of the night too. Our rusher stepped forward, introduced herself, and invited us one by one to come in. We just went into the living room and sat the whole time - no house tour. I met about 6 girls from this house over the 30 mins. At one time, I was talking to three at once! They were really nice, and one of them knew my cousin. They served really watered down lemonade. I was surprised, because I talked pretty much the whole time. Each girl I met was nice, and helped put me at ease. I'm looking forward to going to this house again tomorrow.
Gryffindor - The president called off the rusher and rushees name (some had double rushees). Then, we took a house tour, and went to the living room. My first rusher seemed really nervous, and kept forgetting what she was going to say, etc. She was nice though, and I knew her cousin. My second rusher was super nice too. These girls were really easy to talk to, and they didn't seem fake or anything. They served water or root beer, and I had an H20. It was nice that I talked to only 2 girls, I got to talk to each for longer, and I didn't feel like I was being passed around as much. The house was pretty nice too. Definitely looking forward to this one tomorrow.
Hufflepuff - We just randomly walked in and picked a girl. I think I talked to around 5 girls. The first one took me on a house tour, which was nice. After that though, we really struggled with the conversation. It continued with the rest of the girls, except the very last one, who was pretty nice. I mean, the girls seemed nice and all, but I just wasn't "feeling" them. They served punch. I also really liked their shirts, they had their nickname written in rhinestones. We'll see if I can meet some more compatible girls tomorrow.
Ravenclaw - Cutest songs of the night. The president read off names, and we matched with our rusher. We sat and talked for a little bit, and I asked about philanthropy etc. Then, we went on a house tour with our rusher and two other rushee/rusher groups. This house is impressive. They've won lots of awards. Also, their GPA requirements seem kind of high. I talked to about 4-5 girls, who mostly seemed nice. I was surprised by one girl though, she said she had a three year old son. Just struck me funny. At times the conversation struggled, but overall it wasn't bad. They served water, brownies and ice cream. I sampled everything, though not much of the food, I was afraid I would spill it on myself, and it was hard to talk and chew at the same time. This house seemed pretty nice overall, but might be a little out of my league.
Wrapping up, I'm looking forward to tomorrow, and I had a blast tonight. If I had to narrow down today, Hufflepuff would be out. But, I'll wait till tomorrow to solidify my opinions. I ended up not being as nervous as I thought I would be. Also, there's a girl in my big rho chi group who is a grad student. Is that even allowed? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that you had to be an undergrad. Anyway, i really did have fun tonight, and I'm almost certain that I met my future sisters tonight (I just don't know who they are!)
Tomorrow is another open house round, I have to be there by 6. My post afterwards may be late, as the parties are 40mins, but I'll get on here ASAP!

Yippy! Glad things went well tonight for you! Can't wait to hear about what happens tomorrow! It's so good that you were comfortable (for the most part!) and confident! Can't wait to hear more!

Nope, tonight, no cuts. Invitationals don't start until Sunday. I really like it that way I can get more of an idea about the houses before we narrow it down. Who knows, tomorrow some Hufflepuff might really impress me.

I think that's cool too--both you and the houses get two rounds of open houses to get to know one another before you have to start worrying about making cuts. More relaxing and gives you two chances!
Anyway, get some beautyrest and thanks for helping us all feed our addictions!

As I said before, I love the HP references. May you be "sorted" to the best house for you. Good luck and can't wait.
