that was an issue with my frat brothers whose chapter totaled 4. and please correct me if i'm wrong, but when the developers were campaigning all over campus, i think they said the occupancy was supposed to be higher than 10. at any rate, there definitely wasn't enough interest with my sorors for us to even consider bayou oaks.

that's a possibility but i'll be honest with you and say that i definitely felt we, the bglo, were in the minority but i never felt like the larger greek community was. but hey, that's another thread for another day...

I went back and looked at the floor plans, and they house up to 26. For organizations with only 4 members, I can see where that would be a problem. DG has been preparing for this for a long time, it was a priority for us and every effort was made to make the transition as smooth as possible.

The Greek community at UH is SO small, we are ALL in the minority. Thus is usually the case with commuter schools. I never differentiated between the different GLO's. The male groups, in particular, had great presence at Greek Week, football games, intramurals, and even some of our philanthropy events!

Oh, and for mommag2, Kappa Delta Chi is living at Greek Park. I remember Omega Delta Phi was trying to get housing, but I don't know if that worked out.

yeah, i gotta agree with you on that. i think the fact that we were largely a commuter school and are considered "the working man's college" that a lot of students never really had that pride and spirit in uh.

well, i don't know, i lived on campus the whole time (1 year in the towers, 2 years in the quads and 2 years in cullen oaks...yeah, it took me 5 years ) and i never really had that school spirit either.

by the way, when were you at uh?

I don't know about other groups, but filling the house is not a problem with DZ beacause there is a rule that you cannot live in the dorms if there is an open spot in the house. You are required to fill the spot. If you don't, then the rent is prorated through the chapter. Filling the spots has not been a problem with DZ since pretty much everyone wants to live there...also, I thought the DZ house slept 12...And I know that some of the guys have more room too.

*because (sorry, I didn't spellcheck)

In saying house, I mean Greek Row townhouse...but DZ house rules apply there. Same thing when DZ had an actual "house" house near UH.

Totally agree, it was really tough! I came from a huge North Dallas Football school, and the lack of school spirit was a total switch!

I lived in the Towers for a year, and quickly moved off campus after that! I was at UH from Fall '96 to Dec '00.
