I told her to come here, because I obviously wasn't getting through to her. Now that I see other people talk to her - I don't see ANYONE getting through. She's a a brick wall. A brick wall from Sigma Kappa Epsilon Pi which is NOT an NPC sorority, mind you.
Do not insult me. And you believe that "anyone getting through" which is false, because you obviously haven't been reading my posts in different areas of GC.

No crap. I know SKEPi is not an NPC sorority. All I'm trying to do now is start a women's group.

Geezus.

Don't tell me what I get and don't get.

I "get" that I can't use anything related to SK because it's copywrited.
I "get" that to use Sigma Kappa by itself is wrong, that it's copywrited.

I don't "get" why the attitude towards me.
I don't "get" why your not understanding.

First off I am very flattered that you want to identify with Sigma Kappa in some way. But I am very confused. If your school does not recongize you as a local social sorority you will become a women's group, right?

I understand how frustrated you are, so I am going to help you out.

The history of Sigma Kappa Eplison Pi (or whatever name you have chosen) should contain why you and other women (if there are any there women helping you) want to start a social sorority at your school. It's not like all of our 5 founders sat around one day and said "oh, let's start a sorority." It takes time.

Colors should mean something to you. Lavendar and Maroon are special to us Sigma Kappas, you want your colors to be special to your organization (something that makes you stand out). I would not want you using my colors cause you do not know the meaning behind that.

You would want to come up with rules, standards, and bylawas that every young women must follow once they are pledged and initiated into your organization.

You would want to develop a ritual of your initiation, pledgings, and what ever else that you feel that you need to have a ritual for.

But please DO NOT use our things, history, colors, mascot, and I would say ritual, but I am pretty sure you don't know what our ritual is .

The whole beauty in starting your own organization is creating it how you want to see it grow in the years. So be creative and make it special of what you and the other women want it to be.

One heart, One way

I feel compelled to post since I am the moderator of this forum.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my
fellow gcer's for posting their opinions,
concerns, and suggestions. It means a lot
that you have taken the time to come to our
forum and read through the situation.

Secondly, I would like to thank cristinasmile
for her interest in Sigma Kappa Sorority.
It is flattering to say the least.

I am confident that cristinasmile has come to
understand what everyone has been explaining
and suggesting. I wish her the best of luck on
her journey to create a new local sorority.

Finally, please feel free to continue discussing
this topic. However, please be considerate of
people's feelings. We have to remember that
behind the gc names are real people with
real feelings.

Thank you,
Shopgirl

Ladies,
Can we please all remember why we joined this organization and how special it is to us??? This woman is coming to us for our advice and wisdom... if she was looking to steal, would she be this sincere?

I am studying to be a copyright attorney, she is not after us. And if there were too many similarities b/t us and her organization, there would be actions taken. But as of right now, there isn't.

I do agree with writing your own history, constitution, meanings and ritual rights. These will be special to your own organization, as ours are to us. If you have any questions or concerns, please pm me.

With Sigma Love and Mine

Sorry to intrude. I've been reading these posts throughout the day, and I wanted to pop on here and post my thoughts.

cristinasmile: Way to go! I wish you the best of luck in starting your own organization.

Everyone else: Yes, let's all take a step back and breathe. I know at first it may have seemed odd that cristina wanted to "copy" SK, especially since she posted on this forum. But, I believe it was only because she truly admired what SK stands for. Let us all remember that she is also learning her way around greek life. Remember, she comes from a non-greek school. I remember when I came to college I had no clue what greek societies were about, especially local ones! I believe she's finally sorted out all of the info we've tossed her way. I know it can be frustrating at times, but let's smile and be as helpful as we can be. Isn't that what being greek is about anyway?
