AGD from U of T here! There don't seem to be many U of T-ers posting on here... but that's typical of U of T

I think it's so funny that everyone on here knows Shala... I'm the Panhel rep for Tau chapter and she's our advisor! Small world.

Hi Laure!

I met a girl from U of T AGD a while ago, I was shopping in Holts (wearing letters) and she worked there and we started to chat! I don't know her name but she was nice

My brother went to Waterloo - but had never heard of fraternities until I joined a sorority down here.

I hear WLU has the best greek system in canada - in terms of support (not size).

I'm really hoping to go to CIFC there this year (but my chapter is trying to make that initiation weekend - my pres is on my side cuz she wants to go too...so I hopefully should make it!)

Because I actually use my real email for MSN, I don't wanna post it...but PM me if you wanna chat! Although my AIM is sphinxgurl21 if any of you use that!

It's true, WLU is well supported. I believe one of the Deans of a Faculty is a Gamma Phi Beta.

What is sad is that Dr. Fred Binding (a TKE) was the Dean of Greek Life (or something, not sure if I got that title right) and he passed away over the long weekend. I hope whoever takes over from him, will be just as good to Greek Life at Laurier!

I've never seen greek life when I've visited WLU but props to the support they get from their school! Their website re Greek life is definitely the BEST I've seen in Canada, I don't even think on most other campuses greek life is even recognized!

WLU

The Lauier Community was shocked by the sudden death of Dr. Binding.

He was a very nice man, a dedicated TKE and a very enthusiatic greek leader. He was always commenting on greek letters ( on shirts etc) in his classrooms and telling everyone that they should rush for greek groups

Unfortunately I only got to meet him a few times (as I only became a member in the Fall of '02)

I really do hope also, that whoever fills his shoes has the same dedicated and love for the greek community at Laurier!

Rebecca

You probably didn't go on Albert Street then. Out of (now) 5 groups, only three have houses - ΣΧ , ΠΚΑ and ΔΓ and they're all located on Albert.... though, last I heard... the Sigs had yet to find their letters again... (they're currently missing)

ETA: And it's really sad to here of Dr Binding's passing!

That's sad to hear. I'm sure he was a great Dean.

As for the position of Dean of Greek Life, are they not the only with that? I think most GLOs are always categorized as clubs so a Dean of Greek Life isn't hired.

I actually find it amusing when our CO tries sending letters(usually introduction type stuff or evaluations) to the Dean of Student Affairs - he doesn't give a damn about us, I'd be surprised if he's even heard of any GLOs! I told our international to send that kind of info to the Student governments VP Internal Affairs - he's the one who handles greek life.

Hey, anyone else have problems with grades? Not that your group's GPA is low, but telling your HQ that that's private information and things like all women's GPA is just not available. We hand in our own grades, but CO still wants the All women's and I think other info too (not sure). We had to get an "exemption" form filled out by the registrar's office but they didn't want to do it! So our Scribe stood in the office until they signed the letter that she wrote! It wasn't on school letterhead, but it worked I guess - she waited in the office for at least 20 min(and that was after reaching head of the line).

Anyway, just wanted to get other's opinions on this!

Unhappy

A lot of campuses do have that information published in their Annual Reports, as well under online statistics - you just have to dig a bit.

Dr. Binding was quite a gracious man, and his support of Greek life in Canada will certainly be missed. CIFC will be working with WLU Greek Life to honour Dr. Binding's contributions when we have the conference Nov 7-9 at WLU.

ONTARIO GC SUMMIT?! :D

If I come back to Ontario in the near future, I think we should have am Ontario GC Get Together.....we could have it in Toronto, and the people who are in Waterloo and London could make it in (hey, I know they're not that far away...I've been there, done that).

I know this will grate on Lil_G's anti-Toronto'ness , but unless he is prepared to have us all stay at his house, Toronto is probably a lot more do'able!
