I agree, yay for SD! Where else can you go to the beach, a ballgame, a hockey game, the desert, the mountains, or a vineyard (as well as Mexico) within a 30 minute drive?
California is awesome...why do you think I moved back home after school (besides obvious financial reasons, of course )...in order to be close to Sea World, Disneyland, LA, a drive to San Francisco, you name it, I want to go there!

North/South Feuds
NorCal vs SoCal is often a fun arguement to have with a friend.

Thanks, but badly spelled. I went back and corrected a couple of major errors in the original. I might have had a nip or two when I wrote that.
I think the idea was plain, though.

GREAT THREAD
I think the reason why Texans have to keep boasting and shoving it down our throats about how "great" they are is that they know deep down how mediocre TX really is.
Myself, I am from Florida (born in Atlanta, and raised in a little bit of both).
I am also a big fan of NYC and Boston.
What bugs me most about Texas is how they claim to be "SOUTHERN" (and I don't mean geographically...clearly Texas is located in the southern portion of the country. I mean SOUTHERN with history and heritage). Um, no. You want southern, check Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, even north Florida. What Texas is, is a bunch of people who try too hard. Keep trying guys, you might one day pull it off (not).

What's so bad about Oklahoma? Some people think it's all hick-town because they've never been there. The people are nice, it's not too polluted, there's decent stuff to do, and they have good schools, just like about every other state in the nation. I have relatives there, and I've never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome there.
But I'm from New Mexico...no one seems to have mentioned us yet.

Because there's like...no people there.
I think the state's population is what my city's population is.

Agreed, Leslie! PLUS, without Michigan you all would be doing an awful lot of walking!!!!
And, as long as I live in NY and will be happy to be a New Yorker, I am first and foremost a Michigander! (Another reason to love Michigan - I think we have the coolest nickname!!!)

That's true, however another Texas person (whom I shall not name) started a whole thread entitled "Nebraska Sucks" or something close to that. I'm absolutely sure it was meant as humor, but some people do and did take offense.
Use of that word when talking about states, cities, etc. is not uncommon in the hallowed halls of GC.
And, I agree. Let's be kind to each other.

Michigan and Wisconsin are both really neat states -- we've lived in both. Everything from major cities to beaches to spectacular scenery.
Add to that, really good people.
(I wonder why they're both right hands?)
