Haha. Okay, so I think I saw this movie when I was in sixth grade with my sister, friend and her younger brother. We were all so freaked out afterwards that we went into my friend's bathroom together because we all had to go to the bathroom and were too scared to go alone.
The Mothman Prophecies scared one of my sisters so much that I had to stay with her until she fell asleep. It wasn't so much that it was really scary; just kind of freaky since supposedly some of the things happened in real life (I think).
I would never go see The Ring because I get pretty scared easily. The first time I saw Scream, I was freaked out. The scene where Neve Campbell is in the bathroom and you see the guy's cloak fall to the ground in the bathroom stall freaked me out for some reason.
Poltergeist 3 with Tom Skerrit scared me in general, esp. the scene where Carol Anne is in the garage and backs up into a puddle. Then hands come out and grab at her...sounds corny now, but at the time, I was scared.

I was absolutley petrified of "13 Ghosts" too... The first time I saw it I watched through my hands, and when it was over I shrugged it off like no big deal. Then, I tried to tape it off tv because I remembered it was a good scary movie, and I had to stop it halfway through because the ghosts still freaked me out.
I also saw "IT" when I was little when I was suposed to be napping at a babysitters. My parents could never figure out why I never wanted to go to a circus, or why I would run away from clowns... the sad thing is, I'm still scared of them to this day. I half expect them to smile and show the razor teeth, or make blood come out of faucets... <<shudder>> gives me the chills to type it.
I've gotta say though, I'm dying to see "the Ring" though... I love a good scary movie, even if I cant sleep for days after.

I laughed all the way through the Exorcist. I dunno. It just didn't scare me. I also laughed during The Oman. What a joke! It's generally pretty hard to scare me. Except what I said about 13 Ghosts!

The Ring...yeah, everyone is in agreement, lol. I saw it three times in the theater (I took different people each time so they would get scared, lol), and it scared me everytime, even though I knew what was gonna happen! lol!
The Others...end part when the cabinet SLAMS! omg.
Signs...some other people have named scary parts, but I was screaming and jumping throughout the whole thing, lol.
And whoever said when Jason came out of the lake on Friday the 13th, YES!! I literally threw my popcorn and soda in the air because I jumped so far!!!!!!
Candyman is scary...
Blair Witch was pretty scary too...the last like, 5 minutes, omg.
Exorcist was just disturbing, not necessarily scary to me.
The Gift was SCARY!!!!!!
If I think of more, I will be back.

it's ALWAYS the music that scares me! Think about some of these scenes that other people have described in this thread. Most of the time, I'll bet if you took the sound off those scenes they wouldn't be AS frightening. It's usually the sound that intially startles you, not to mention the specific (and deliberate) chords/scales in the score that build up the scene and make your brain expectant of what is to come.

OMG you're joking...............
That is the funniest thing I've heard all day. She gave me nightmares when I was like, 5, but I outgrew it!!!Sorry to bring your phobia to mind!
P.S. Did you ever see the end of Who Framed Roger Rabbit when the guy melts??? Kind of the same thing, but much better animation.

Mothman scared the shiznit out of me because a) it's true and b) it happened less than 1/2 an hour from where my friend goes to school. The part where that guys meets what's his face.....blllehhhhh. Damn. And The Ring...I have the WORST story about that movie. One night I had some family over spending the night and we were going to wake up super early and drive to Atlanta. I was determined to stay up all night so we rented the Ring so I'd be too scared to sleep. Well, I fell asleep anyways. When I woke up, I had a small handprint on my arm (I was holding my arm in my sleep). I had the absolute isht scared out of me!!!!!! It still creeps me out. And if you rent the DVD there's like these deleted scene type things and there's one that shows Noah....shiver. I'm never watching that movie again!

"The first Jason when he comes out of the lake. It's the music man cause it was all peaceful
and then the music comes out of nowhere and there he is! freaked me out cause I didn't think the movie was that scary."
I remembered seeing Friday the 13th at midnight (it was the million dollar movie on ABC) and the ending freaked me out. I was all relaxed and then Jason came out of the water. I had nightmares that night.
The Exorcist - seeing Megan walked downed the stairs as a spider (it's in the 25th special edition) was creepy.
Silence of Lambs - I saw this when I was in college and was a size 14. I was scared to death walking out of the movie theater. It didn't helped that the serial killer, Gary Hednick from North Philly and I lived across the bridge in NJ.
