I have never heard of a non-smoking club. Do these actually exist? (Espc. in states where they have not yet passed this new law?)

I think they just passed a law similar to the one smiley described here in Dallas? I'm not totally sure though, but I do remember hearing something like that on the news not too long ago.

I love going to a bar with no smoking, it's a world of difference....in case any of you haven't realized yet, the shit is very bad for you. It's about damn time other municipalities took action vs tobacco companies.

Like CC1GC mentioned Ottawa is entirly smoke free, not necessarily a bad thing. I thought i'd toss up some the warning labels he mentioned, these cover half of every pack.
There is a whole bunch more of them check out http://lurquer.com/cig/ for all of them.

I loved your cigarrette packages in Canada! Hilarious.
Seriously though... smokers rights?
Even a good libertarian would be (or should be) for this law. If what you're doing hurts someone else, it shouldn't be legal. You have no right to hurt someone else through your 'freedoms' -- legal or not it's still self-centered, rude and unhealthy.
Personally, I don't care if you smoke around me. I'm a non-smoker, never tried a cigarrette, never want to. I'll hang out in smoking bars, non-smoking bars, makes no difference.
There are people though that have serious allergic reactions (they're not too far between since cigarettes have so damned many chemicals in them)... Don't those people have rights also? How about the right to go to a bar without a gas mask?

i live outside of boston and my town has a non-smoking law. i love it! it is nice to go to a restaurant or a bar and not come home smelling like smoke. there is however, a loop-hole. if the smoking section is completely closed off from the non-smoking area, then they can allow smoking. there is only one restaurant that i know of in the town that has that luxury. the other time they can allow smoking is if there is an open air porch. of course this is a seasonal thing.
initially, my town had the same uproar about losing business, etc., but honestly it hasn't had an effect.
one of my good friends is a smoker. he is really good about going out with us and not smoking. occasionaly, tho, we go somewhere he can smoke.
