At my school we had "Jews for Jesus Lady". She would stand at the main crosswalk that most students used to get from west campus (where most of the dorms are) to main campus, and she'd be holding up a sign and shouting. When I graduated, she turned up with her sign, standing next to the sidewalk that the graduates walked down on their way to commencement.

A few years ago, she actually disrupted Rosh Hashanah services. We gently suggested that she leave and not return, or we would have her arrested. She didn't show her face around campus for a while after that...
We had this same group. Jews for Jesus people were preaching and handing out pamphlets. My sorority sister screamed at them, "What's next? Protestants for the Pope?!"

I'm just going to go on record and say fanatics scare me, only because no matter what you say to them, your always wrong in their eyes. Not only that but some people take that whole thing a little to far.

.........I'll keep my distance

I have had a few run-ins with them. The first time was in the subway when I was running to get to work when it was packed and the jerks had started handing out pamphlets in the middle of a crowded staircase preventing people from getting through quickly. I ended up running into him and he tried to stop me so I get I pushed a little hard and he ended up tripping and knocking his friend over. I neded up getting to the train right when it left and complaining to the MTA and every single politician about them being in the subway that night.

The second time was on campus and I went up to them and said I'd like to help found Christians for Mohammed. He got real annoyed when I hung around him and asked every person he talked to whether they had considered converting to Islam.

But the preacher guy is funded to come to campus so why do people go to his events? If nobody goes to the event would the student council still give that much money to cover his speaking fees?

This guy is crazy!

All I can say is this guy would fit right in at my campus - we're full of the religious right, and he hates Catholics. Rest assured that if he ever makes it to Wisconsin, I'll be happy to give him a piece of my mind.

He used to come to Ball State when I was there 10-15 years ago and preach at the Scramble Light. He always targeted Greeks. I remember once, I was walking with a friend who had her Tri Delta letters on, and he points at her walking by and says "Delta Delta Delta! The sorority of Satan!" I gave my friend a lot of crap (in jest) for that one We used to have one of the student religious groups that would go up and down fraternity row a couple of times a year and "pray for our salvation" because we were obviously going to burn in hell. I always just keep in mind that 99% of the public thinks these people are nuts and don't take anything they say to heart. Those who claim to be so confident of their salvation usually aren't.

I want to make it alliterative. Since Jews for Jesus use the J sound, I want mine to be like Buddists for Bacchus or um..Protestants for Pan or some such.

Actually, it's "Mohammed" but no offense taken. The only thing that could offend me is religious nuts w/ too much time on their hands. And really...what's w/ these cross-religious groups? (No pun intended..doh!) Why would Jewish person be "pro-Jesus?" I am confused...maybe someone can enlighten me.

Oh on second thought, a Jewish person could be for Jesus if he/she were a Messianic Jew. That has always fascinated me. But anyhoo, just a little addendum to my $.02!!!
