I think that's cute (I love Salinger, though), and it probably would go over a lot of people's heads anyway.

And then could you imagine if she had neices & nephews? They would really have an Aunt Jemima!!

Here are a few off the top of my head:

BOYS (I'm better @ these)
  • Damon
  • Justin
  • David
  • Eric
  • Van
  • Andrew
  • John (but not Jonathan)

GIRLS
  • Annah
  • Ashely
  • Elizabeth (Beth for short)
  • Jane

I'm not feeling real creative right now. I think it's really cool when people have names that have some type of meaning, whether it's a family name, there's a story about a literary character, etc.

I don't particularly like different spellings of names, because that has to be annoying going through life correcting it all the time. My sister's first name is Alyson & I really like that spelling, but no one ever gets it right.

What about names you would never name your kid(s)?

BOYS
  • Kyle
  • Joshua (Josh)
(Both of those because boys with those names are ALWAYS in trouble).
  • Todd
  • Tad
  • Shawn (w/ that spelling, I'm okay with Sean, although I doubt I would use it)

GIRLS
  • Misty
  • Crystal
  • Lisa
  • Amy
(Lisa & Amy because there are just so many of them. Maybe the same with Jennifer?)

-If anyone has those names, childred with those names, etc. please don't take it personally. They're just names that have certain connotations to me so I would avoid. I actually really like the name Joshua.

LOL! I subbed in the local schools for about a year after BlazerCheer and Ballerina were born (ASLFRose was 2, even worse!) and all the subs decided that we would never name our kids Jason, Chad, or Shane for that reason!

I met this awesome couple last summer, and she was super pregnant. I don't remember what they were gonna name the kid, but it seemed so cool with their family. It was something mono-syllabic that you call a 50-yr old man, not a baby. Jack? Bob? No...it was cooler than that.

Ohohoh, I feel like everyone has an uncle with the same name as one of mine. Who else has an Uncle Bob, Tom, or Larry? Yeahhh!

oh, i also like Mitchell, but for a girl's name. I was friends with a girl Mitchell freshman year and she was so awesome. I fear id set my child for a future of torment and an adulthood of sexual confusion.
