Jimmy Buffett, with or without the Coral Reefer band.
As for solo artists or singer/songwriters, I'd have to go with James Taylor, Carole King or Jackson Browne.
But Jimmy is always #1!!

I forgot to add...
Aside from 80's New Wave I'd also have to add 80's Rap and Hip Hop (LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, etc.). So, I guess if it took place in the 80's, I love it.
Actually, I also like older stuff (The Doors, George Clinton, Janis Joplin). I guess I just like ALL types of music (including country, some of it).
I do have this to say about the 80's though, Great music - BAD fashion!

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down to a top 4, although it's hard to choose (I keep seeing other bands on everyone's lists & I'm like "oohh... Guster, I love them, too... ooohh REM... ooohhh, Paul Okenfold.... )
- DMB
- barenaked ladies
- Cake
- The Beatles
Dave might be my absolute fave right now, mostly 'cause I just saw them live last week.

In addition to Incubus I like Cake especially the song "Where Would I Be". Does anyone else like Beth Orton?

In no particular order, bands and individuals:
Cake
Beck
The Beatles
Smashmouth
Queen
Simon & Garfunkle (Bridge Over Troubled Water -- best ever!)
The Cars
The Police
Sting
The Andrews Sisters
Pearl Jam
Elvis
Michael Jackson (admit it, Thriller was a great album)
U2
Pink Floyd
Van Halen (w/DLR)
I know the request was for "favorite" but I like lists better!

BNL, I have loved these guys since like fifth grade and have all of their CD's and singles. All the songs they do are so catchy and I never get sick of them.
Dave Matthews *sigh* I love Dave, the music and the man. I am listening to Before These Crowded Streets right now on my computer, and I can never get enough of them. They are like the soundtrack to my life.
I also like:
Dixie Chicks
O.A.R.
U2
Five For Fighting

By the way isn't it funny to see Randy Jackson, who was a producer for Journey and also a band member during the "Raised on Radio" tour is now a judge for American Idol?
