Thumbs up Other fun thing at our University

The TKEs at Nicholls State spend most of the home games trying to amuse ourselves, because the football team is terrible, but we like to support the school whenever possible.....But to keep us interested, some of us made up stupid cheers that go along with the fight song, and are fun to tell the opposing players and coaches.....Some of our favorites are .....when the fight song goes NSU who who who...we replace the whos with "Who Flung POO" .....its just funny to have the whole stands say that at once, and we make posters hat we put up that say that....the other fun thing is to tell, start distracting the players by pointing out their coaches rather large breasts....their is always one coach with large ones, and we try to yell over him saying Coach has floppy tits, while making hand gestures to signify it......and the players always start laughing and giggling, its hilarious, cause the coaches get so mad.....

I wouldn't say that it's making fun of our heritage but definitely celebrating it. I was watching a Tennessee football game on tv last year and I actually saw some chicks holding up a sign that said GEAUX VOLS. I didn't know if I should have been offended or taken it as a compliment that UT was trying to copy us. LOL.

I found this really surprising...

We have block seating at Nebraska, and all the sororities pair up with a fraternity (so I guess that leaves some fraternities sitting alone...) Those houses will end up co-designing a block party shirt, and that will usually be the most popular shirt worn by Greeks on Game Day, until we go out drinking of course.
B/c there are fewer sororities than fraternities it usually ends up being a competition between fraternities as to which get to pair up. Of course the sororities are also in competition for certain fraternities as well, so the whole system gets complicated.

I can't believe how little some of you have to pay for tickets (at schools where the football decent and people actually want to go). $10 or $11/game would be great to pay rather than the nearly $22 I had to pay for this fall.

You saw people at a Muhlenberg game??? Are you sure it wasn't homecoming? That's the only game that anyone goes to at my school. BTW, I go to 'berg, that's why that statement caught my attention.

Allison and Mystic Cat, thank you! I sat there and thought that it must be "Go Tigers" or French/Creole for "Roar Tigers," something along those lines (I wasn't sure how 'eaux was actually pronounced) but while I had the opportunity I thought I'd ask and be sure. Thanks again! Allison (and all other LSU fans and alumni), best of luck to LSU this fall, looking forward to y'all's visit this fall to The Plains to quite possibly decide the SEC West. Please remind your friends NOT to dump their tailgating coals near our buildings, thanks! For those who didn't know or forgot, during the 1996 LSU @ Auburn game in front of a national Saturday night ESPN audience, our old gymnasium ("The Barn") which was directly across the street from Jordan-Hare Stadium and dated from the 1930s, caught fire from hot charcoal from a tailgater's grill (unknown whether AU or LSU, doesn't really matter as it could have easily been either, most likely AU though) dumped on the ground. The old wooden structure went up in a spectacular column of flame and smoke to a horrified ESPN audience, to whom it initially appeared that J-H was on fire. The fire was directly behind the student section so believe it or not, we didn't know what was happening until well after the rest of the stadium saw it. The flames were so intense that the chain link fence around J-H was hot to the touch some 100' from the fire. I found pieces of the roof of the Barn over 1/4 of a mile away at the Kappa Alpha Theta dorm the next day.

At UM (Like PSU, must be a BIG 10 thing) you definately do not get dressed up for games. All you see are Maize (yellow), Blue and White Michigan apparel.
As far as The Greeks go, sororities and fraternities pair up (Its usually with your Greek Week partner) and have tailgates or pre-parties as we call them. You go to the fraternity houses about 2-3 before game time and just hand there. And you wear your pre-party shirts to the games, if you're not wearing maize and blue.

Michigan Football student tickets= $18

Well, we don't have to pay for student tickets, but the face value on them ranges from $20-$40, depending on the game (games like UT and UF are big games, and of course our Clemson games run around $38).

Hey! As long as we're requesting stuff...just make sure the next time y'all come to Baton Rouge you 1)don't stomp on our Eye of the Tiger 2)don't smoke cigars on our field after the game and last but certainly not least remind your coaches not to send your place kicker out on the field before the end of halftime unless he wants to get a severe ass whooping from the Brass section of the band. LOL. All kidding aside...should be a good game this year. I know I can't wait for September to roll around even though we don't have the most challenging schedule this year. OH WELL. GEAUX TIGERS!!! KICK SOME ASS!!!!

Red face

UCSD doesn't have a football team, and students only go to basketball games if their friends are on the team or in the band. Or if the assistant coach sleeps for two months on the roof.

That's right, the assistant coach slept in a tent on the roof of the athletic facility, RIMAC, until the attendance record was broken. We're talking less than 5000 people! It finally happened when for Senior Night they decided to have giveaways and IFC/Panhellenic made it into a competition. But there was still barely more than 5000 in attendance. Quite sad really!

As far as attire goes. If you're there with your sorority/fraternity you'll be in letters. Usually the sweatshirt letters and a pair of jeans or black pants. But, anything goes!

I have a question for all you proper Southerners. One of the alumna in my chapter attended Louisana Tech. She said that while all the girls look so ladylike in their skirts and dresses they also have bottles of alcohol duct taped to their inner thigh! Is that just a Tech thing? Or is it pretty much universal?

It's pretty much universal, although some campuses are starting to crack down on alcohol being snuck into games.

Florida used to allow you to leave during half-time to go and have a little more drinkity-drink to keep your buzz going through the whole game. That stopped, I think, when Spurrier ascended the throne. It was funny, though to watch everyone file out of the stadium and not give a flip about their own band.

No way do Greeks dress up. Our football team isn't that good and Greeks rarely go to the football game unless we get participation points during Homecoming. Guys in fraternitys at my school are very casual.
Oh yeah and tickets for students are about five dollars and non students are about 10. I can't imagine paying $40 to see them play. I'm sure CUboulder has expensive tickets since they're a really good team and in a higher division.

At San Francisco State...

Football team? We had a football team?!?!

Seriously though, the funding for our football team was pulled back around 1996. It caused a big uproar at the time, but hardly anyone ever went to the games. Not even for homecoming! I don't know if the funding has been reinstated. Any of my fellow Gators care to enlighten me?

Dressing up? Wow. Like UMgirl said, we just wear Michigan stuff. If one of my sisters were to dress up in a sun dress, everyone would laugh at her. Who wants to get all prettied up to party and drink on the football field and then mosey on down to the Big House and sit in either 100 degree or 50 degree weather? I'm so glad we don't do that!

As for Greek block seating... I duno if Ann Arbor students have it, but Dearborn just sends in their tickets together. I got shitty seats due to some freshman joining our group... Sec 29, Row 29, seat 6

Allison--
I don't remember any of that! Seriously, I don't think we will have that problem next time we come down to Baton Rouge. The overwhelming majority of AU fans and alumni were livid at our team's actions before last year's game. Whatever criticism y'all might have had was multiplied by us several times over directed at our coaching staff and AD, such behavior is simply not expected or tolerated from our players. And regarding the marching band, please ask your fans not to try and knock ours unconscious with liquor bottles next time, we're getting tired of having to fish Jack Daniels bottles out of our tubas, thanks! In fact, what do you say we just have a nice, normal, non-controversial game this year... nahhhhh.... Best of luck and have a safe drive up Oct. 26th, heck, bring your favorite sun dress and I bet one of our actives would love to escort you to the game, you can just yell "GEAUX TIGERS" and nobody will know the difference!

.

Do most of your schools allow tailgating and alcohol at the games/parking lot?
