Mascots!!!
Our local mascot is the butterfly. We just adopted it on our one year anniversary. The whole meaning behind the butterfly is because of Diokete Hupsala. It's cute, but we haven't done anything with it yet. I like the idea of giving the sisters a teddy bear when they are initiated... We'll have to see what we can do with a butterfly!

Our local mascot (Gamma Pi) is a teddy bear also. New members typically receive one from their sapphire during sapphire week. It is really cute and there are a lot og things to buy with bears on them. We also use it in one of our service events that we do. We build bears for a childrens hospital.
The butterfly is a really pretty mascot, it really ties in nice with the motto!

Hey Jamers,
what do you mean you build bears? My chapter really is in need of service project ideas...they really didn't do much last year...but that sounds interesting...

We "build" bears at the store Build a Bear. you can go to buildabear.com to see if they have any locations around you. You pick the animal that you want and stuff it, add a heart and they sew him up. You then pick out clothes and make a birth certificate for your bear. The company is really good with supporting us, they give large discounts and donations. You have to talk to them in advance and let them know though.
We go and do this once a semester for an informal recruitment event. The potentials love it and it is a good way for everyone to mix and mingle while doing something for a good cause.
Later in the semester we go to a childrens hospital and decorate and play with the kids and give them all a bear. They really appreciate it and it can be a pretty emotional experience.
It has proved to be one of our most successful philanthropy projects.

That is very interesting Ali.... looks to me like we need some representation in the south !!! and midwest REALLY BADLY... (as we have said in the expansion post) I also find it interesting that Phi Sig has sooo much representation in the northeast and then the second most number is in California.. why did they skip the middle and the south ?? strange.. and Beth you're right it was Phi Sigma Omega... which is weird because nationals said they couldn't use it because it was already copyrighted... but that group isn't in NPC now... does anyone know what Phi Sigma Omega is today ??

I didn't find anything on Phi Sigma Omega... I did find Sigma Phi Omega, which is an Asian sorority... but it was founded in the 50's, so that couldn't have been it! I donno
Anyways, that's incredible that you wrote all those down! That's something...
Hey, we have a sister that's transferring to Hawaii.... We've been buggin her about trying to start a chapter out there. Wouldn't that be lovely??? Keep your fingers crossed!!!
Anyways, question time!!! Ok... Gotta dig deep into those manuals...
This chairman shall create innovative tools that educate and benefit members. Shall work with the regional programming chairman to implement programming initiatives. And shall report her activities to the director of programming. Which chairman is it????
Oh... toughy....

Without my book right in front of me, and no other chairman coming to mind, my guess is RCP, but I really have no clue.
What "famous" PA town, which was once the capitol of the USA, was the headquarters for National Phi Sigma Sigma? (Hint: a very cool Phi Sig and GCer lives in this area....)
