Thanks for coming back to finish your story. Hopefully you had a great time at the lake this weekend!
Congratulations on Tri Delta!

What your RC told you is just dead wrong. Your chances of getting a Cape Town bid were not increased if you put down both chapters on your bid card rather than a Cape Town suicide bid. Your chances of a Cape Town bid were determined solely by where you fell on the Cape Town bid list and the number of girls on that bid list who listed Cape Town first before your name came up and not some way the computer system works. RCs tell PNMs that because they believe that it is there obligation to have the maximum number of PNMs get bids anywhere but it is just not true.

BadCat25 - a PNM that refuses to maximize her options on her MRABA cannot be a Quota Addition. We will never know if she was a QA-NM or not. If she SIPed her first choice, so was not eligible for QA but was not high enough on her SIP Chapter bid list she would have had no bid at all. It's a question of whether you want to be Greek or not. It is playing odds without knowing all the variable but such is life.

This is correct. Maximizing your options does in fact increase your odds of getting a bid, even your #1 choice, over SIPing. The problem is that she may be matched with her second choice before she can be made a QA to her first choice. It's a gamble, but the choice to SIP should ONLY be made if the PNM would rather NOT be Greek than accept her second choice.

Thank you! You're answer is simpler and I like it better.

Correct. She would have gone to Sydney before being QA'd to Cape Town if she didn't go to them as a normal bid.

True. But as was said above SIP could mean no bid at all if Cape Town filled their bid list before she came up.
