What is not so bright about thinking someone who uses the user name of Illinoisdg on a Greek message board is an Illinois Delta Gamma? I hope you don't speak this abusively to your daughter's friends since I am in her same age range too and that would make you a not very nice person.

The one that did not invite her back is supposedly one of the top tier sororities...whatever that means...but it really did not click with her and the lack of an invite was no real surprise, nor was it disappointing.
She is very nervous for today when they go down to 3. I think what has worked so far is that she did not have her mind set on a particular sorority. My guess would be that if a girl is obsessed with a certain sorority, the other houses may sense this. Obviously there are many factors, but she was been excited to visit each house, and her enthusiasm probably helps.
At this point she has a definite favorite, but she seems to really like most of the 7. She is worried about going from 7 invites to zero. I guess the pressure is different for everybody. As it has gone pretty smooth so far, her top 7 are pretty popular ones, and she feels this makes it more likely that she will not get invites. But I have a feeling it will work out. I think she loves the one because she really clicked with them, and I would guess that they can see her enthusiasm and clicked with her as well. We shall see. As somebody else wrote, the road to get there doesn't matter so long as she gets there.

Unless there is a sorority named Runtime, this username is not likely to offend. Anyway, the update is my daughter received 3 invites for today, and they were for her top 3 choices. So far, so good. Have not heard yet how the meetings went. My understanding is that she will rank the three, and then she will either receive a bid to her first choice if they want her, then down the list, with a possibility that after all of this she may get no bids. Is this how it works? If so, are the odds she will receive no bids at this point pretty remote?

If she lists all three, the chances of not getting a bid are so small as to be negligible.

Great...thanks for the info. I just received a text and she is so excited...she is pretty sure that her #1 choice wants her. I am sure she will list all 3, and would be happy with the other 2, but her #1 seems like she really wants it.

Welcome back, Runtime. Very few women are released if they maximize their options and list all three groups on their bid card. Hopefully she'll end up in the chapter she likes best.

When things go very well for people, it usually makes them more empathetic. When things are not going as planned it can make someone say cruel things for absolutely no reason. I'm reading between the lines here and I think we are seeing something very similar to all the pnms acting as though they have a full invite list.
I am cringing though seeing the name dg next to all your posts though, and since you and your daughter don't actually have any affliation I am asking you as an alum of DG to please discontinue posting under that name. Make a new account, or just stop posting, but please whatever you do just stop posting with our letters!

ANYWHO, putting this thread back on track...parties should have started around 45 minutes ago. Any updates from moms/rec writers on how many invites their PNMs got? If I'm correct, we have
- AngelMom
- 614
- Illinoisdg aka runtime
- 908sfirst
with daugthers and
- DG Illinois
with 3 rec girls and
- Larkspur12
with a sister.
Did I miss anyone?

You are the best... you got everyone on there! I always get nervous when I don't hear from anyone.
My 3 girls did not get everyone back, but 1 has 3 pref parties, and the other 2 have 2 pref parties. They all have a house that they would love to be in and you can only be in 1 so all if good! I get the overall feeling they are so ready for it to be finished, but isn't everyone.
I was not a fan of getting my invite list back, regardless of what was on it
or how well it went. It's just a process that is so hard to understand until you go through it. I am wishing everyone the very best and hoping that all our ladies going through are having a wonderful day. Pref parties are very special and were my favorite part of recruitment!

DGillinois, I said I will give up my username and stop posting after the attacks stop...do you want me to post after I learn of my daughter's results, or refrain until I get a new name. Either way is fine with me.

If I were a DG I would be really offended by you still using my letters especially since some other people have already told you how rude it is so now you know and being new to this is no excuse. It would be easy to do the right thing and be nice and start over with a new name."
Had she just posted the name was confusing and politely suggested a change, that would have been one thing. Instead, she said that DGIllinois should be really offended, thereby trying to instigate something, said that I know how"rude" it is, and claimed that being new is "no excuse." And she had ZERO to add to my comment. So she was rude, and was your comment that you hope my daughter is nicer than I appear to be. Funny, I specifically wrote that if you did not want me to reply to let up, but you and old row just cant stop. If me posting with this name bothers you so, stop engaging me.
|
There is nothing rude about that post. You deliberately continued to use a user name several others informed you was offensive in a another thread and I had to go back and read all of that because I thought you were someone else in this thread. People gave you an easy solution in that thread to create a new user account but you refused. So that makes you not only a bully but a perp because no one reads signatures.

I think most of us would prefer a rude bully like you to no longer post here at all.

Really? Direct me to where I refused to pick a new name. In fact, I tried to create a new username, but it would not allow me do do so, and said that only one account per email address. So I made a mistake and I:
1. Contacted the administrator to change the username
2. Wrote a signature to disclaim affiliation
3. Tried to change usernames but was not allowed to do so.
4. Posted that if DGIllinois wants me to stop posting and not update on the recruiting, I will stop posting as soon as the attacks stop.
So your accusation that I refused to change names is patently false. Not only did I not refuse, I actively tried. Moreover, I honestly admitted that I have nothing to do with delta gamma, and the only reason people are supposedly offended is because of my honesty.
If some people here are interested in what transpires with my daughter, I will post. if it offends DGIllinois to post with my current name, I won't. I have no option to change names until the administrator acts.

YAY! I'm so glad to hear that. I haven't posted in this thread yet, but had been reading it.
I think it is easier because the PNMs are going through the process and have parties, while we as moms/rec writers/etc have to sit, wait and be (not so) patient during the parties in addition to the waiting for the lists. For all we know, they could be having the worst time of their life, even though it's doubtful that they are!

Woo for all of your PNMs! 614, that is especially great news! Yay for her for having the WONDERFUL problem of having to choose between 3 chapters she likes. Hopefully pref will help her out a bit
