After a few weeks, Abby had fallen into a routine. Classes were going good and she started hanging out with the guy who went to her high school a lot (they learned they were both morning people and met for breakfast every morning at 6:30am). But every time she saw a girl in Mackenzie letters, she felt like crying.
Brooke was okay. Her Brooke aunt had sent her a lot of Brooke gifts to try to get her excited about the sorority. And Brooke was offering her what she wanted from Greek Life: they made her focus on academics and held her accountable at study hours, she always had someone to eat with in the cafeteria, and there was always at least one social event each week where she could meet new people. But even though Facebook said she was making tons of friends, she still didn’t feel at home in Brooke. Actually, she found herself missing home a lot.
Her sister offered to let her come visit for a weekend and Abby took her up on the offer. She stayed with sister in the Payton sorority house and hung out with her Payton sisters. She also met her sister’s friends who were in Christy and Kelly. During the second day of her trip, she thought about transferring to her sister’s school. The school had a good program for her major (but not as good as her current school) and she knew several people there already either from high school or through her sister.
Her sister loved the idea, as well as her friends. If she dropped out of Brooke and transferred, she’d be eligible for informal recruitment at this school the following semester. Unfortunately, her sister’s sorority, Payton, would not be participating in informal recruitment. Her sister’s friend in Christy also said that since they were well above total, they couldn’t take any new members either. The friend in Kelly said they may be taking two or three girls, but they would most likely be friends of members and they wouldn’t be holding recruitment events. However, there were three sororities that pretty much always did informal (Holly, Melissa, and Jill) as well as a non-NPC sorority (Leslie). There was even a sister in Melissa who had gone to her high school. And of course, there was Brooke.
Brooke always did well in recruitment (and had cut Abby’s sister after day 1). If she initiated into Brooke, she could potentially transfer her membership as well. Abby didn’t hate the Brooke sorority. She actually enjoyed learning about Brooke during new member education and their creed was basically a fancier way to say what she had always believed. Could she be a Brooke? Could she be a Brooke at her sister’s school? The friend in Kelly quickly went through her cell phone and found the phone number to Brooke who she worked on a class project with the previous year. She texted her and asked if she could bring her Brooke friend from another school by to check out the house and meet some sisters. The sister said yes, so they walked over to the Brooke house.
Abby was shocked how pretty the house actually was. She met the sister the Kelly had texted and got a tour of the house. She met several Brooke sisters got a long with them very well. When one of them asked her if she’d like to stay for dinner, she said yes. The food was pretty good and she had so much fun with the Brooke sisters. After dinner she stayed for a while and chatted with a few sisters and helped them get ready for a night out. Sometime during that afternoon/evening she started to feel the sisterhood bond with the Brooke sisters that she had been missing. The only problem was that this was not the Brooke chapter she was a new member of.
The next day, Abby returned to her campus. She knew she didn’t have much time to decide what she wanted to do. Initiation was only a few weeks away. And if she wanted to transfer, she’d need to apply soon. She had a lot of thinking to do.

so Marcie is Brooke? I'm confused based on where cuts came from in story #1 and the relative relations in story #2.

There are some sororities which are on both cousin 1 and 2's campus, but I gave each story a different set of code names to make it less confusing (I thought).
Cousin 1 and 2 are each other's cousins, not sisters (two of my aunts had daughters the same year). "Abby's" older sister's recruitment is not part of this thread.
Does that make it more clear?

ooh. I'm more clear, but does this mean we get the possibility of "Abby"'s sister's recruitment story as well?!?
(I'm hoping for a Sig Kap happy ending somewhere in all this)

I hope you're typing!
I transferred my junior year, and I got along just as well with my new sisters as I did with the ones I left behind.

After talking a lot to her mother, her sister, her high school friends, and even her new friend at school who she went to high school with, Abby decided to seriously look into transferring. She applied to her sister’s school and kept in contact with the Brooke sisters from her sister’s school through facebook. By the week of initiation, Abby still hadn’t heard if she had been accepted or not. If she did initiate, she wasn’t sure if she’d be happy as a Brooke at her current campus. Of course, there was no guarantee that the Brooke chapter at this other school would allow her to transfer her membership (though her new Brooke friends from that school told her they thought she had a very good chance of being welcomed into their chapter).
Eventually, she made the choice to become an initiated member of Brooke. She felt a little better about the chapter, but still not completely at home. If she did not get accepted to her sister’s school, she wasn’t sure if she could be as devoted to Brooke that the chapter deserved so Abby started to look at other schools in her home state that had a Brooke chapter. There were a few where she had high school friends at and considered them a good back-up.
Finally, she got a letter from the other college. She’d been accepted! She booked another trip to visit the school and e-mailed the Brooke President before she even called her family to let them know she’d got in.
A few weeks later, she travelled to the other school and hung out with the Brooke sisters a lot. She met most of the chapter and even cheered on sisters in another sorority’s philanthropy event. Some of their new members showed her around the dorms and gave the pros and cons of each building. Overall, it was a great weekend. But she didn’t want to get her hopes-up after the let down she felt over Mackenzie.
Abby wrapped things-up at her old school. Her sorority sisters were sad to see her go (and probably a little mad that they wasted a bid on a girl who was just going to transfer anyways) but understood that she wasn’t happy at the school. Her big helped her pack-up her room and promised to keep in touch. The guy she went to high school was the hardest for her to leave (even though he lived about 5 minutes away from her at home). Would the new friends she made at her new school wake-up early and eat breakfast with her at 6:30 in the morning every day?
In January, Abby moved into her new school. She stopped by the Brooke house pretty much every day until the chapter meeting when they would vote her in or not. But the friends she had made in the chapter during her first visit were right, she had no problems being welcomed into the Brooke chapter.
Abby still talks to a few Brooks from her old chapter. Her big has kept in touch, just like she promised. She even mailed Abby a present for her birthday.
Oh, and that guy she went to high school with? He was her date to formal. She won’t admit they’re dating, but my Aunt says they’ve been hanging out a lot for two people who never even spoke to each other in high school.
It was a long route to get home, but Abby is finally happy to be a Brooke. Sometimes she thinks about Mackenzie, but maybe because her current school does not have a chapter of Mackenzie, it’s not that often. Or maybe it’s because Brooke has replaced Mackenzie as Abby’s idea of “THE GREATEST SORORITY EVER!”
So who is Brooke?
Abby is now sisters with her Aunt…
…her Aunt who is also as my mom…

Pirouette-out of curiosity what sororities are in your family? Your a SK and your mom is a DZ, what are the other ones? Are there any more "copies" (like how your cousin is a DZ like your mom)?
I'm the only greek in my family, so I kind of am envious of the families that have multiple generations of greek women.

Oh my...It's a longish list but here we go:
Me-Sigma Kappa
Sister-Alpha Delta Pi
Mom's side of the family:
Alpha Phi
Alpha Xi Delta
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Delta Zeta
Pi Beta Phi
Dad's side of the family:
Alpha Delta Pi
The only other copies are with Delta Gamma and Alpha Delta Pi (which were legacies joining their legacy sorority).
My mother was one of five (all girls) and my father was one of six (three boys, three girls). My father's family all lives in a different state so I've never been very close to them. I think one of my uncles married a sorority women, but I'm not sure which sorority she's a member of.

I sensed that Schroeder was AXiD based on the "they were unsure how to pronounce one of the letters" comment. So funny. I was the same way as a new member trying to learn the alphabet. Congrats to your cousin!!!
