Oh and in regards to
James post, the girl lives next door to my parents house. On the night of the "Cat skinning" she had tied the cat down with a leash and practically hung the poor thing from a tree, while she skinned part of it. Thats where the police found it when she was questioned as to where it was. It was in the back yard of her house. This wasn't heresay. I was there when they took the poor animal, who was bearly breathing down and handed it over to the Deputy Game Commissioner Officer that was there who check the feline and eventually it was given back to the woman who lived across the street from us. At this time, this girl we will call her HS, just sat there without a care in the world and didn't think it was a big deal.
Also, James...as for the car keying.....she admitted to it.
As for the fights, this i have heard from her sister, so yes, it is second hand, she walked up to some girl and punched her in the face as she walked down the school hallway.
She has been to court twice that I know of. Apparently she just had to do community service.
James, would you want someone like this to join your organization?

Help Maggie, one of my sisters on this site said AXO may be colonizing there-is this true? Do you know? Does anyone know? If so I would like to inform our nationals about this girl.

AggieAXO,
I tried to email you but it won't let me. Yes, AXO colonized at Elon this fall. From what I have heard they are doing pretty well. Email me if you want more information about this girl and how you could let your chapter know there.

We have a policy here where if any sister has a severe problem with a girl going through rush, we must hand the names into the chair BEFORE the first party. Her name is written on the board at that night's bid session and she is not even discussed. The girl states her problem. Hands are raised. And she is cut. Why hurt your existing sisters?

Hey -
Being an advisor and alum president, I have the PAC's and PCC's home number -- I will be making a phone call.
Since we did just colonize there, I am quite concerned.
We had one girl go through rush that every single house dropped the first night (which the only way to drop in round one is to be a serious concern -- which she was) -- well when XYZ colonized there the next fall, she became a charter member. I felt SO bad for them because we all knew what kind of girl she was.
James - I know they are annoying sometimes, but leave the cocker spaniels alone -- go for the more rat-type dogs. JUST KIDDING PEOPLE - JUST KIDDING! I think we all know I'm the most vocal animal advocate on the boards.
Interesting reading, James -- where were you when I was finishing up that thesis for abnormal psych??

I would do the exact same thing, and without a second thought, too.

OK, I've read enough. May I pose what I feel is a legitimate question?
If you won't write a rec on "someone's word" because you never met her, how can you feel comfortable writing a no rec on "someone's word" when you've never met her?
Just a philisophical point to ponder...

I do not mean to insinuate anything about this particular thread as well. I thought about editing my post last night, but got way too busy. I am glad, thus far, it hasn't been viewed as anything other than a "general" question resulting from this discussion.

Why edit if that is the way you feel? I think we all really respect your thoughts/ideas (not that I don't respect anyone elses on this board), I know I do

There I did it again! What I meant to say was that I did not question the validity of Maggie's posts. I should have said that right off the bat.

Alright, this is what i did (whether anyone here thinks its right or wrong). I contacted the Membership Advisor to my chapter and told her what had been going on. This woman also works in Admissions at Elon. She said she would look into it and that they had been made well aware of her past history from her highschool. So, she also told me to write a no-rec if i felt that strongly about everything. The girl, if she decides to rush, has to go to first round and the chapter can override to no-rec if they want to, but sometimes its nice to have it on the books just in case.
