The only Canadian 'national' is a men's fraternity, Phi Kappa Pi. For more information on Greeks in Canada, check out:

Info on Canadian NPC groups
There is 1 Canadian national - Delta Psi Delta, who have chapters at U of Ottawa and U of Windsor (side note - the U of W chapter has just closed as of fall 2001)
As for NPC groups, here they are chapter wise (I'm just listing those with with 4 or more open as there are several with 2 & 3 open and I don't want this to get too long )
Alpha Gamma Delta - 7 open, 2 closed
Alpha Phi - 5 open, 1 re-organizing, 1 closed
Alpha Omicron Pi - 5 open, 1 closed
Gamma Phi Beta - 4 open, 1 closed
Kappa Kappa Gamma - 4 open, 1 closed
Pi Beta Phi - 4 open, 2 closed
FYI, there are several groups with 2 or 3 chapters that are not listed here for space considerations. There are currently 14 NPC groups active in Canada - for more information, please visit http://www.canadiangreeks.com

Re: Info on Canadian NPC groups
Shala,
Do you mean that the university closed or the chapter there?
Thanks.

Delta Phi Epsilon has three chapters in Canada:
University of British Columbia
University of Ottawa
Concordia University
We've also had chapters at University of Western Ontario and McGill, but they are closed now.

I think it was U of T not Western; and I thought I read somewhere that we also had a chapter at the Univeristy of Manitoba

Sorry, never here at U of M - please see the DPE link at canadiangreeks.com
http://www.canadiangreeks.com/directory/dphie.html
But you are correct about U of T - that was your Zeta chapter (1924-1958). McGill was your Epsilon chapter (1922-?)

Actually Alpha Phi also has one colony in Canada bringing our total to 7 active chapters including:
University of British Columbia
The University of Western Ontario
University of Toronto
McMaster University
Wilfrid Laurier University **colony
Bishop's University
University of Manitoba
Also in response to the Northeast post A Phi has 17 chapters in the NE Region (which we consider to be the states of Maine, Mass, RI, CT, Vermont, NH, and NY).

Alpha Phi Colony at WLU
Just wanted to let you all know that the WLU Alpha Phi chapter is Installing in the next month! (can't remember the exact date, but it's soon!) They were colonized a year and a half ago, and have about 30 girls going through Installation, so congrats to all of Alpha Phi! ( I just spoke with my exec counterpart today, and she met the Alpha Phi equivalent of our V.P. Social/Pledge Educator who shared the great news.)

Alpha Chi Omega is at Brown (RI), University of Rhode Island, MIT, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Quinnipiac University (CT), University of Vermont, and University of New Hampshire. At the other schools, Greek life is much bigger than it is at Brown--so they have a more diverse group of sororities.
As a whole, it seems to me that the most "established" (and I use that only in terms of age and numbers) sororities dominate New England campuses. There are sororities which are relatively young that aren't big on older NE campuses, but are at younger schools. I know the terms "younger" and "older" are relative when dealing with New England schools and sororities, but I hope this explains it to some extent.

Interesting topic
I have just heard from several different ppl from several different sororities that AGD is really big in Alabama (i lived there b/4 i came to KY) as is AOPi (which is what my sister is)...KKG is apparently really big down there, too. Those are just 3 that I have heard of that are big southern sororities. There are a lot of soroities on here that I have never even heard of...it's weird how groups disperse...

Yes, there are a ton.
I attend Boston University - we have 11 NPC/NPHC sororities on campus, and 10 fraternities. MIT has more, and many other universities in the area have greek systems.
Any more specific questions, I can probably answer them better . . .
